There are amazing views over Pecs if , and that is a big if, the advertised views from your accommodation are real - often there is a view if you are in exactly the right room or part of the building, and if not, tough luck.
I have been there before and loved it; but the very disappointing room this time tainted the experience. So pick your place carefully - eg. don't be beguiled with stories of fabulous views over the city - check for yourself, and consider carefully if you would rather have a great view or easy and quick access to the many fantastic squares and buildings and museums etc. downtown and near downtown. There are excellent and reasonable places right downtown that will be comfortable and allow you to enjoy the city.

Pécs is a lovely place in Hungary with an expansive cultural heritage. The Cathedral, Széchenyi square and Zsolnay quarter are just a few of the must see spots. You can have very good food and wine (or beer) in Király street.
If you're feeling adventurous, Mecsek has the most amazing trails But even if you don't have whole day for hiking just make sure to visit Tettye and walk up to the observatory there.
Pécs is doable by foot most of the times, but has very accessible bus service as well. You can buy tickets on the bus with cash (forint).
Make sure to check the actual events (and book in advance) to experience the street market vibes, when all the best wineries of Hungary and traditional food stalls represent themselves.
See you in Pécs!

Pecs is a terrific little picturesque town with heaps of interesting churches, a mosque, a synagogue, museums and ancient burial sites. Most things are very close by. On Sunday everything is closed except cafes and it's like a ghost town which is good for avoiding hordes of tourists. Pecs is neat as a pin and would probably win a tidy town contest. There's plenty of food places and our favorite was the Korheli pub. I'm glad we chose to stop here for a couple of nights.

Not a crowded city, plenty of things to see.
Not a crowded city, plenty of things to see. Older waiters and cashiers don't really speak foreign languages, even basic stuff was hard to convey to them, so have that in mind. Younger ones are more fluent in that department.

Many of the sights -- the Csontvary Museum, the Cathedral, in particular, are within easy walking distance of the Fonix hotel, where I stayed. The city is the home of a university, so the streets were filled with students and other young people. My trip was a Wednesday day trip by train from Budapest, so other than the main sights and the fact that the performance in the theatre was a one-man show in Hungarian, which I do not speak, I regret not having planned another, full day. The next time I visit Hungary, I'll spend a couple of days in Pécs; for what I saw whetted my appetite for more.

It's a beautiful city, has great restaurants, and quite a few things to do.
There are good places particularly for Italian food and seafood amazingly in this very landlocked city.
Plenty of quirky places to visit such as the cat cafe and the mosque church.
The apartment is bigger than it looks on the pictures. Very spacious and clean, good WiFi connection, within walking distance from the city center and the shopping mall. Even though there is no parking provided within the building, there is plenty of parking available on the street. The hostess Marietta is very sweet and was helpful since the moment we booked the apartment until we left Pecs. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon. I will definitely recommend the apartment to everyone.
The hotel is in a nice renovated heritage building. The room and the private bath were big enough, and very clean.
At the reception desk were nice and helpful people.
Parking was in the courtyard or in a separate building, underground. Well functioning elevators.
Good breakfast.
Vis-a-vis is a little shop with food and beverages open non-stop (good to know!)
One can reach the historical centre on foot in 15 minutes of nice walk.
I would recommend this hotel.
Everything was great and as advertised. Breakfast was lovely with a lot ıf choices, exceeded our expectations. Possible a la carte restaurant for lunch or dinner which was a life saver for Easter where many places were closed. Room was very spacious and location easily reachable downtown. Spa area was small but very well maintained. Spent a lovely evening there. All in all great hotel, great service and amenities for a reasonable price. Do not hesitate
gorgeous facility! but I have to start with this… the on-site restaurant was the most amazing places we’ve ever eaten! the food, staff, decor, and service (especially the service) was second to none. The hotel portion was very nice, but the rooms were not clean. The on site restaurant actually helped us to our rooms because there was no hotel staff on site. the breakfast was fantastic. over all we loved our stay here.
The R73 Residence is a brand new hotel near to the cultural and commercial centre of Pécs. It has a contemporary design, rooms, kitchen space, bathroom are all modern, high quality. Staff, especially Sylvia, is really kind, supportive. They are at the beginning of their learning curve of how to run a hotel, but their willingness to please their guest completes the missing routine skills.
This place was amazing. Well located (10 minute walk from the center of town), clean, spacious (beyond what I expected) and totally, totally great! This was, for the money, the best place I have stayed in Hungary. I received a long, detailed text that made check in so easy and trouble free! Everything was complete n the apartment.
Very nice old hotel right on the main pedestrian street and near the main town square. We had the included buffet breakfast which was amazing in the fancy Art Deco style dining room, and we went back for traditional Hungarian food for dinner. Both were great, and the serving staff was exceptional.
It's in the centre of the Pecs. In walking distance of everything. It's next to Arkad. To Sinagogue and centre of the city you have few hundred meters.
There is a parking on spot, turn right after the hotel.
Breakfast is great.
Staff was great. They speak english.
Big recomendation.
Charming- Traditional woodwork and linens were used in the decorating. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful view from the restaurant. The restaurant was excellent and not too expensive. The hotel is dog friendly (but an extra charge).
The apartment was good and well positioned for exploring Pecs. The friendly hosts met us on time. It was quite well equipped and bright with the light from velum windows. The parking was easy when you have negotiated the slightly tight entrance.
It was very clean, big room located on top of Mountain so don't think you can walk to the center unless you are a hiker :d the problem is bus runs once an hour so it's hard to leave the hotel. The view is amazing clean beautiful gardan...
Hotel kept the spirit of the good old times, it truly depicts the soul of this beautiful and charming city of Pecs. It's in the very heart of city, everything is at hand and the hotel staff is there for you for anything and everything.
For us it was the perfect place to stay in Pécs - central but quiet, lovely staff, good size apartment with everything we needed, parking in the courtyard, good breakfast and excellent value all in all. Would definitely recommend.
Very nice building in a perfect location to visit Pecs. Despite it is in the old town, the rooms are quiet. The whole hotel, including the rooms is clean, convenient. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is tasty.
Really fantastic location, very central. This also meant I had to sleep w earplugs as the streets are noisy and there is very little sound proofing. Interieur is quite dates but it s ** hotel so I was ok w it.
The apartment is very spacious for a family of four and nicely decorated. The fish pond is very pretty with water lilies. The location is quiet and close to orfu and pécs downtown.
Very good hotel for a short stay in the beautiful city of Pecs. Close to the center, convenient private parking, recommended. Breakfast not very sophisticated;))) but sufficient
The hotel is located at the city centre which makes everything accessible. The rooms are clean and has air conditioning. The staff are very polite and accommodating.
