People are not welcoming, everyone is dying to steal you, cheat you, fool you and take money out of you. No one cares about hospitality. With only one day available on a busy itinerary it had to be...
With only one day available on a busy itinerary it had to be the Taj Mahal. Get up early and have a snack, then get to the ticket office for 6.15. (Gates open at 6.30) - at least they did in February. If we'd had a bit more time, then Agra fort would have been worth a visit. One place to relax is a small rooftop bar called Treat up the steepest, narrowest staircase ever. Great to watch the world go by with a cold beer and a wide selection of reasonably priced food.

The three classic monuments in and around Agra all lived up to expectations. Despite the fact that Taj Mahal is so well known from pictures, visiting it at sunrise still made an enormous impact. The Red Fort in Agra is also impressive, though it is by no means the only fort from that period in the area. Fatehpur Sikri (about an hour away from Agra) is definitely worth a visit, perhaps because it was conceived as a city and not just as a fort.PaulUnited Kingdom

Location is decent but expect short rickshaw rides to arrive at Sadar Bazar Market & Agra Cantt train station in the South and the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and baby taj attractions in the North (usually 500 - 800 ruppies to rent a rickshaw all day). Food still had the same taste as before & was delicious. Convenient location, walking distance from Kalakriti where the India famous Taj Mahal live show happens and 1km from Taj Mahal itself.
