A nice and relaxing traditional semi-desert town with the friendliest people (and cows) you can meet. You can just wander around and enjoy. Nobody would harass you, just friendly people greeting you, young and old, and friendly cows, of course.
You can visit the town's attractions or simply sit and enjoy observing the vibrant local life.

The Jaisalmer fort is located on top of a rock.
The Jaisalmer fort is located on top of a rock. Inside the fort there is old town. There are private houses inside the fort. Walking around the small small lanes is very interesting. But be very careful about the local people. They will try to cheat you somehow or the other. Even if you take a guide, the guide will make you pay double the money because they get commission whatever you spend during your visit.
I have seen people sitting next to me in a terrace, paying INR 500 for two coffees and I paid the same coffees INR 140. Because their guide told the waiter to take INR 500 from them. It was so sad… people of Rajastan specially guides and drivers and shop owners are looting foreigners.

Jaisalmer was definitely more touristy, then the other cities we had visited before. In a way, this made our short stay there more comfortable. People on the street were friendly and greeted us, without trying to sell us anything.

A very good combination of History, Culture, Gastronomic delights and contemporary sightseeing. I recommend the Jaisalmer Fort Or the Golden Fort (has historical artefacts), the War Museum, Gadisar Lake and the surroundings, Folklore Museum and Desert Cultural Centre (set up Shri Nand Kishore Sharma, 94 years old, in1983. The Desert Cultural Centre also hosts a puppet show (two showings a day) in the evening.

The hotel is in a quiet lane around 5 to 7 minutes walking distance (Around 2 minutes drive) from main market Area. The room size and bathroom size is big. The bed is very comfortable. The hotel has a decent size pool, though we did not use it as it was very cold weather. The hotel is a like a palace turned in to a hotel (like many hotels in Rajasthan). Location wise, this is the best place to stay in Jaisalmer for those who are looking at staying in a luxury hotel without paying exorbitant charges.
Been in India for two months now. Went to Jaisalmer to ride camels only. I was not expecting the hospitality that this hotel has to offer.
Room was exceptional clean and the bed was so very comfortable.
I booked the over night camel safari at the hotel and it was one of the best experiences I have had in India.
Ba, the owner, will greet you with such hospitality you will feel warm and welcome. Being in the fort is also a great experience and the location is really easy to find.
Most lovely location inside the fort. The income and placement of the hotel make for a part of the fort that is perfectly maintained in its old glory. Without a doubt, when in Jaisalmer, book the Killa Bhawan!!! it is worth going up with the riksha or tuktuk (cars cannot go to the top) and staying in rooms with an amazing view!!! All of us loved it, including a couple of friends with their 1yr old little girl!
We hopefully will be back soon for a much longer stay!
Room is too big and cleans also the view of Fort is so awesome from room and Rooftop.
All the staff members are so kind and always welcoming you with smile, Owner of hotel is also humble and give personal number for any kind of help. This is the best hotel in Jaisalmer.
When you are planning to travel to Jaisalmer only book Lal Garh Palace and leave all the other activity on them.
They provide you desert safari and Border tour packages at cheap price.
Everything! The room, the location, the staff....especially Mr. Sumer bhai is amazing! He is very supportive and was very helpful in everything. The desert safari is awesome and worth the price! The camel ride was good with the best sunset scene which can be seen from the sand dunes. Had delicious food and the best part was the rajasthani cultural programs. Had a very great experience and will come again to Hotel Shahiraj! BEST STAY IN JAISALMER!
Fort Villa is what best defines Indian hospitality.
The welcome is warm, you feel at home, and the whole hotel operates on the basis of trust.
Everything flows smoothly, and if you're lucky enough to spend your birthday here, you'll be delighted to blow out the candles on your cake and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere on the hotel rooftop.
A hidden gem in the fortress of Jaisalmer, an experience on the edge of Rajhastan.
Very Hospitable staff, we really enjoyed a lot here in "Hotel Shahi palace. " Very attractive room & most important the Rooftop of the hotel is Amazing . The view from balcony is also unbelievable & Front view of the Jaisalmer Fort ( Golden Fort. ).
Thank you so Mr akshay ji ( he plan our all the tour from bikaner to jaisalmer), for showing such kind of love.
Killa Bhawan is a boutique luxury hotel inside the Jaisalmer Fort. We chose Heritage Family suit. It gives you an authentic experience of living in a quaint but tastefully done room which was built several years back. It was a remarkable experience and can’t mention how happy we were living there. Their team goes out to help you with anything that you want.
Very warm, clean and cozy room. Its Terrace restaurant with the fort view was very very nice and served us some delicious meals. The fridge had some complementary beverages which was so thoughtful of,since even the 3 star hotel at Udaipur did not bother to provide. And the most happiest moment for me was the hair dryer in the bathroom.
Such a beautiful hotel. Jaisalmer itself is so charming and filled with wonderful people, sights and history and this hotel fits in perfectly. The room are immaculate as are the lobby. The pool area is something to behold. We loved the overall ambience of the palace, all of the staff were hospitable. We will definitely be back.
I LOVE this hotel! Just stayed there for the 2nd time. Love the decorated room, friendly & helpful staff & the rooftop restaurant is great with an amazing view of the fort. They can also arrange to go on a desert/camel safari which I highly recommend. Do stay at Shahi Palace when in Jaisalmer.
Amazing location, inside the fort of Jaisalmer. The attention given by the staff was great too. Good rooftop with sunsets and view of the golden City. The individual room with shared bathroom is nice and proper.
Additionally, I took the camel safari the hotel offers and enjoyed it!
The rooms were tastefully decorated. We liked the heritage hotel feeling and that it was inside Jaisalmer fort. We could explore shops inside the fort during night. The hosts were very kind and also arranged sandwiches for us as we were checking out very early morning.
Only the opportunity to stay in Jaisalmer Fort and the help to take all baggage to the hotel during no entry period to JAISALMER Fort. They arranged auto as per their channel to carry all luggage when general autos are not allowed to enter the fort.
Price is very reasonable. hotel is near Jaisalmer fort and the atmosphere is very good in room. Service is good and staff was very kind to me and provided good service. Hotel management arranged all required arrangements for me to go out.
Nicely decorated hotel with very warm and hospitable team. The terrace was cozy with superb view of Fort and decor of the place was very stylish. Hotel also offers camel safari tours. Recommended to all visitors visiting Jaisalmer.
Kindly owner ursha bhai very kind
