Small hotel close to the beach and the cable car to the city center. It is good to book a parking lot through the hotel reception. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was very good, wide option of both salty and sweet foods. I would like to recommend to stay for dinner prepared by Angelo according to the traditional Sicilian recipes.

FAQs about hotels in Taormina

The Jewel in the Sicilian Crown

As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza swathed in vibrant pink blossom, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were in paradise. The stunning location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.

However, it’s not its only glory. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the Greek Theatre is also a triumph. Its largely intact seating offers wonderful views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Spine-tingling summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars also offer live music.

Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, whose clock tower and church are overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.

A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the centre of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the south-west is the long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and north is the bay by Mazzaró.

As you would expect of Sicily’s most beautiful resort, there is no shortage of Taormina accommodation on Booking.com, including 5-star hotels on the beach, town centre apartments and luxury B&Bs.

Taormina is a good base-point for tours of Mt Etna.

Taormina is a good base-point for tours of Mt Etna. There are probably more tours running from Catania, but you can get a good tour from Taormina. The city itself is touristy, but clean and well organized. I won't throw the word "safe" out there, as we felt safe everywhere in Sicily, but we felt very comfortable in Taormina. Of course the sights and history don't compare to the bigger places in Sicily such as Siracusa, Palermo, or Agrigento, but that's not Taormina.

The city/village of Taormina was great for sightseeing.

The city/village of Taormina was great for sightseeing. We visited the ancient amphitheater, and enjoyed hiking in the area. There were an abundance of good shops and restaurants to visit. The City public park was a wonderful mix of trees and walking paths with some amazing “follies” - odd and artistic small buildings, built to entertain the eye.

The location of Taormina looking down to the coast is very beautiful. There was plenty to explore for a few days e.g. the Ancient Theatre, the beach at Isola Bella within walking distance or by cable car. For us the highlight was a visit to the hilltop village of Castelmola which provided fantastic views, including snow capped Mount Etna. The main drawback of Taormina is the fact it is rather crowded even in late April when we visited. Also there are too many shops selling the same tourist tat.

The Taormina area is wonderful. The mountains, the water, the history. Getting around needs a bit of planning. Taxi, bus or cablecar/lift unless you don´t mind to walk up and down hill. :-) I´ll be back.

Stunning Taormina, full of heartbreaking corners and history. Our enthusiasm had to face the reality of a pricy place. Disappointment in meeting insisting members of staff from the hospitality field, who sometimes looked desperately in need of customers for their restaurants, bars, boat trips. Etc..Parking is very expensive but we appreciated the free shuttle service to the city center.

Taormina has beautiful views with pretty venitian buildings, very historical. The food is delicious, as it's a prime tourist location the price of dining out does reflect this. The service in restaurants is good, I found staff to be friendly. The bus station at Interbus terminal is in easy walking distance and it's a short bus ride to Giuardini Naxos beach which is sandy. Waiting times for buses can be long if you miss the bus. Cost of one way ticket for 3 people just under 6 euros. The cost of the journey on bus from Taormina to Catania airport is cheap, 21 Euros for 3 people. Cost of a taxi from the airport to Taormina is a bit expensive at 100 euros, but you can get the interbus which is a cheaper option but will take longer. Our journey by Taxi to Valentina B&B was around 1 hour and was arranged by the lovely lost Loredana at Valentina B&B. Our driver Giuseppe was polite , friendly and provided lots of tips about the location and places to eat etc. Try the paste marandela Sicilian cookies, almond flavour is delicious, also the Arancini, a good savoury snack filled with rice with different fillings. Try the tomato & veg one, delicious.Lucios restaurant was fantastic, staff friendly. And Di foesteria, opposite Valentina B&B where you can have breakfast or brunch, very good quality and nice staff.

Hotel is atop a mountain approximately 500m above sea level. Lovely staff, nice swimming pool and jacuzzi with amazing background scenery of the mountainous Taormina region of Sicily. You also get amazing views of the neighbouring Giardini Naxos beach and even an unobstructed view of Mount Etna. Lovely continental breakfast every morning. Room was good size with kitchenette, porch area and they even provided an extra cot bed as the bed was not big enough for the three of us (room was right size for 2adults and a small child)

Great location. The hotel is just near the sea. Stockholm Spisone beach is sandy and free to use. It was a joy to take our time in the beach just a stone throw away from the room. The cable car is 10 min away by walking. Isola Bella beach is 15 min away from the room. The bus station to visit Taormina centre is just in front of the hotel and very easy to access. There are private beaches and restaurants around. It was an amazing holiday and I would like to thank you Guiseppe, the amazing host.

It’s in a fabulous location, on the beach overlooking Isola Bella. The steps up to Taormina start right outside the hotel. Breakfast was excellent and although we didn’t have dinner at the hotel, there are plenty of very good restaurants nearby. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. We were very unlucky with the weather during our stay… very little sun and plenty of rain. not sure how common that is in early May but the hotel helped us make the best of it. Highly recommended.
