This hotel was so nice and clean! The location was great for walking everywhere! The staff were kind and extremely helpful. Especially Ahlam (I hope that is her correct name and I apologize if not). She went above and beyond every day to make sure I felt comfortable and safe as a female solo traveler. I am forever grateful to her for helping me get to the train station after my ferry got cancelled and I only had a few minutes to catch my train to Rome. The staff in charge of cleaning my room did an amazing job! My room was comfortable and very clean. The free breakfast was delicious, including the coffee machine. This hotel was amazing and completely exceeded my expectations.

This hotel we found out had only opened in April of this year but it feels as though they have the experience of some of the top hotels. We highly recommend this hotel the location is unbeatable just off the Lungomare, Corso Garibaldi is also very close. A local gelateria which is so good the queues just never seem to finish. Reggio Calabria Lido station is very close therefore making this a convenient place to stay if traveling by train (highly recommended). Thank you to all the staff for a great stay.

there is not much to see in Reggio Calabria, except it is a perfect starting point for daily trips to nearby towns. Many trains connection in different directions. Many places to see, but some requires car rental.

I have stayed at this facility at least 5 times.

I have stayed at this facility at least 5 times. The location is perfect for me and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They have always accommodated me with a room upgrade and diet restrictions. I go back because of this. The only negative is I wish they would upgrade the beds. My body is getting old and I need a little more cush. I love going across the street for a morning or evening walk on the beach. Restaurants are within walking distance as well. The price is very reasonable.

Messina is a beautiful city, unfortunately not well-known because it is barely included in the famous touristic routes in Sicily. It deserves more attention in my opinion. The city center is easily walkable, all main sightseeing locations are nearby each other. Public transport is well organised and cheap, for instance with bus line no. 1 you can get to the Regional Museum that is absolutely worth a visit, it hosts several art masterpieces (including Renaissance master Antonello and baroque painter Caravaggio) that span through 3 millennia of history of Messina. In fact, despite its relatively new and modern urban layout (city has been rebuilt after an earthquake in 1908 that completely destroyed it), this city is among the oldest of all Italy. Useful to remark the amazing geographical position of Messina; it has a very long beachfront with nice places for a swim in Summer and with about 30-40 minutes drive by car you can visit the surroundings hills with beatiful forest at more than 1,000 mt high with a wonderful view on the Strait of Messina. Weather here is good for 9-10 months per year, with plenty of sunny days. In addition, it is a perfect starting point to explore Sicily. Definitely recommended if you want to see famous (and much more expensive) places such as Taormina, Catania, Etna volcano, Eolian islands, Milazzo and Capo d'Orlando while you stay in a relatively cheap, relaxing and easy going place. Last but not least, the cuisine of Messina is extremely varied with delicious local dishes and recipes that span from antipasti to pasta, main courses and desserts (special mention to granita and ice creams).

The seafront area is really nice, with a great view across to Sicily and the Straits of Messina. We didn't find a lot of dining options down there, but there are apparently a couple of good restaurants in the neighbourhood. The traffic, as in all Italian towns and cities, is pretty frantic, and parking isn't easy at all, but it's worth a visit/stop en route to the ferry for Sicily, as it has quite a nice atmosphere and outlook.

The Riace Bronzes were as magnificent as we had expected.

The Riace Bronzes were as magnificent as we had expected. Book for the opening slot and stand in front of the pieces alone. The traffic is a massive challenge for anyone who enjoys relaxed driving. Parking is almost impossible, but not quite. The elegant Main Street, Corso Garibaldi, can compete with the best in Italy. Step outside this sector and things are much more modest. The Pinacoteca Civica holds some of the few works by Antonello da Messina but was shut because two days before it had been used for voting in local elections. Check before you risk a disappointment. A hydrofoil day visit to Messina in Sicily is worth it.

Gallico Marina is a great location to stay in.

Gallico Marina is a great location to stay in. It offers a good beach, with a marvelous view of Medina, and most Hostels are quite affordable, which makes it an attractive option for those wishing to spend their time in other places such as Scilla, where prices are usually much higher.

Great location to visit with amazing views over the city and water. I went both up the hill/mountain to an old fort and to the Faro Torre beach which was amazing. The food was great. The city was a lot of hills if you don`t mind the light cardio you are good.

Villa San Giovanni is a place of transit.

Villa San Giovanni is a place of transit. It is very small, not very pretty and when we were there, the "lungo mare" was still under construction. Villa San Giovanni is perfect as a base to go to another place, as the trains are well connected and easy but don't expect something from the city itself.

It is a historic setting.

It is a historic setting. A visit to the museum is well worth it as is a visit to Cesare for ice cream. The walk along the seafront has stunning views and parallel roads are great for eating and shopping. It has a feel of the South of France.

For the city itself, I had one night there and most of one day, For craft beer lovers, Beer Bang is a great place to go for choice of beer, friendly staff and atmosphere. Daytime, I saw a lot of the city but there were a couple of places that I didn't have time to visit. If I'd been there longer I would also have travelled up and down the coastline a bit more, it appears to be attractive. Ferry port/station easy to find/navigate from.
