A surprising place, I had not realised Lugo was so big, I just thought it was just a little village place! Lovely piazza with bars and a castle and a museum. Well worth a visit for a day or two, and being so close to the seaside a trip to the beach can easily be done in a day or even to Mirabilandia so Lugo can be used as a base.

Actually, we were not there to see the Lugo. we were at Ravenna but the hotels were too expensive so we decided to stay at Lugo which is only thirty kilometers from Ravenna. We arrived after midnight which was little troublesome as the neighborhood was sort of noisy at night because some bars were open until 1 Am and people were grabbing drinks. The next day there was this beautiful huge balcony and the nice historic view and the breakfast was great at this lovely bar just 5 minutes walk.

The hotel feels very much a part of Lugo's life and culture. I felt welcomed from the moment I walked through the door with attentive and helpful reception staff. My single room was probably at the lower end of the scale but perfectly adequate, and with a comfortable guest size bed. Everything was clean.
