We spent 2 full days in Alatri on a genealogical hunt. The old city sits high on a hilltop, with the “countryside” spread underneath like powdered sugar. It is a beautiful city, quiet, not touristy at all, with great restaurants and narrow ancient streets to explore. The history and archeology is extraordinary...do your research before going, as in many ways, Alatri is the center of the ancient world; the astronomical beginnings and the actual settling of the area are amazing. A hidden gem for most tourists; for us, we found our ancestral roots, and were stunned to find Alatri’s significance on some many levels.Maryann LisiUnited States of America
