Dormy Inn was a great find! The rooftop spa facilities were nicer than I expected, with indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna, and a cold plunge. The breakfast was really nice, with local ingredients and dishes mixed in. Overall a great value, would absolutely recommend and stay there again.

Staff was very friendly during check in and they even spoke English, which was very helpful. They let me park on-site, which cost 900yen. If their lot is full, there is a paid parking lot on the corner available too. The single room was very spacious, clean and modern. The location is perfect, just a few minutes walking from the castle site and there are plenty of restaurants nearby, as well as konbini across the road. Morioka is a wonderful city and I am glad I stayed here!

We stopped in Morioka on the way to Niseko. It is a small Japanese city with stunning views of Mt Iwate. Our main purpose was to visit friends, so we didn't do much touring, but Morioka is a lovely smaller city, very walkable, with an active city centre of restaurants and many interesting temples. It almost feels like a mini Kyoto while driving around. We enjoyed Wanko Soba, which is famous in Morioka.

I go to Morioka every month or two, while it's a city it doesn't have the crowded or bustling feel. You're also close to nature. The botanical gardens and lake are a short drive as well as Mt. Iwate for climbing. Morioka is also a go-to for Wanko Soba. I've never had a bad meal in Morioka. Overall, Morioka is a good vertical slice of Tohoku and different from the image of Tokyo that saturates people's view of Japan.

We did not spend day time at the city only night time. We were at the ski resort during the day and Morioka is well located to visit the nearby ski resort. Love the drive from Morioka to the country side. People in the restaurant were friendly although very little English was spoken. It feels very authentic for tourists as it is a very down to earth city.

The Castle park and the small river flowing next to the park was really nice. Also the temple district at the north was worth to a visit. Dendenmushi circling the town is convient to visit all city attractions. One day pass is quite economical to be used. The city can also be seen by walking for people with enough time.
I had one day in Morioka with an additional side trip to Hiraizumi. I think the time was sufficient. For people that may eant to enjoy more the downtown area and shopping an additional one day could be useful.
I wish I had more time to try the soba noodles of Morioka.

Morioka is a very nice city with several interesting sights, which can be easily reached on foot. I also loved the 3 local noodle dishes.
It is also a good place as a base for side trips, e.g. to lake Tazawa.

It’s a good transport hub for other tourist sites in the area. Not much to do in and of itself, but a good place to sleep, get some good food, and karaoke a bit before driving out to Hiraizumi or Jodogahama.
Room was larger than expected, with a great view of Mount Iwate when the clouds allowed, with a bright bathroom and powerful shower. Check-in is at 14.00, an hour or two earlier than at most hotels in Japan, and the location is unbeatable: the hotel is attached to the train station and next to local buses. It's also connected to a shopping centre, with a bakery that opens fast 07.00, meaning you can nip down and bring a breakfast back up to the comfort of your room. Staff speak English and are professional and pleasant.
Comfortable and quiet room which is actually pretty large for a Japanese hotel.
Close to all the main shopping and food areas and about a 25 minute walk from the station but was a nice walk.
Japanese breakfast each morning was also great with a variety of little foods to try out.
There is a Lawsons right across the road from the entrance.
Staff were friendly and helpful on checkin and spoke English.
- the host is incredibly nice & helpful and takes care of all travelers. he has extensive material, about the area and Morioka in general, so you can rely on him pointing you in the right direction :)
- the area is super pretty, with a lot of old traditional building
- the house is incredibly clean and well maintained
Great bang for your budget. Close to Morioka station and include all the basic amenities for you to take a rest on your Tohoku trip. The staff was kind to assist me to dispatch my snowboard back home by courier service. And it includes the great breakfast which is standard for all Route Inn hotels.
The location is great. The hotel and room were very clean. The staff when I checked in was very kind and helpful. They were able to walk me through getting my luggage sent to my next hotel. The free drink bar, lounge area, and attached convenience store were also nice.
Not a very glamorous hotel, but it’s fine for the price since it basically costs as much as a hostel would. Location is across the street from Morioka Station and right by quite a scenic little bridge that connects to a more active area of the city.
The room was very pleasant with a good set up. It was nice to have a sofa and the bath was larger than some business hotels. Starbucks on the first floor was convenient for breakfast.
This hotel is new and inspired by the career of a famous Japanese jazz musician. Very unique and cool. Love that there's basically a jazz club at the entrance. LOVED the public bath!
This is my favorite hotel in Morioka. I like the comfort and style. The breakfast buffet has a delicious homemade tofu dish as well as other local specialties. Highly recommend!
The hotel is clean, quite comfortable, good food, friendly staff, close to 7 Eleven mini market, laundry equipment available, close to Morioka Station (10 minutes easy walk)
The owner was friendly and truly helpful with great itinerary suggestions. I only wish I could spend more time in Morioka. Absolutely loved the Japanese tatami style room.
The hotel is in a moderate location, the room is surprisingly large, the room is neat and clean, and the bathroom supplies are above the standard. It is highly recommended!
