If you staying in the city and planning to visit nearby hirosaki city you probably need no more than four days to do everything first few important things to say public transportation it's very different from Tokyo trains are not rapidly moving from one city to another in transport in the city it's not very common it's bases but walking will be the better choice anyway because it's a small city I will highly recommend the number one restaurant in aomori that have the nebuta show name : Takakyu Nebutanokuni - literally people coming from all over Japan the staff will try their best to communicate with foreigners but remember at least the minimum required Japanese will help you there (in general outside Tokyo and Kyoto English is not common at all) important to say that aomori like sappro have the freshest seafood in all around JAPAN and few of the main attractions in the city Aomori ( the famous build your own bowl market - A factory - nebuta museum and the Main St ) - two days hirasaki main attractions - two days ( just google tripvisor hirosako XD) visiting around winter ? I highly recommend renting a car and driving to the nearby ski resorts not only you'll be welcome bye unforgettable views of snow in the horizon but an amazing ski resorts that I will highly recommend BTW I visited around mid Mars and skiing is still available around those times of year ! I took effort in writing this down and I wish I could get I review like that when i was planning to visit hope it will help you ! (I couldn't provide photos but I wish I could do beautiful city with beautiful scenes and things to do )
Took a 2-day trip to Aomori. On the first day, took the JR Gono line on the prefecture's west coast and enjoyed the beautiful rugged shores' landscape in winter. For the night, stayed at the unique Aomori city, which is famous for the snow-soaked streets. The next day, took a bullet train to Hachinohe, where I rented a car for the Towada lake via the Oirase gorge. The gorge is beautiful in winter, when you can see the frozen waterfalls. And the lake is especially a good place to visit in winter, due to the reduced number of tourists who venture to reach there.
The food is very good, different types of ramen. And it is convenient to go to very beautiful places like Hirosaki apple park and lake Towada. Lake Towada is a must if you visit Aomori and want some relaxing time.
Aomori the northern city of Japan in Tohoku prefecture. There are many hotel near Aomori Station but I chose Mystays hotel because of the good reviews by other travelers and it so close to the station. Aomori has it own unique cultures
I loved the Nebuta Museum Wa Rasse near the station! Spectacularly stunning with amazing hands on activities! I can't wait to come back in August to go to the festival and see the new floats. The people were also very friendly in Aomori (noticeably more friendly and helpful than in other areas of Japan). I also enjoyed the humble local onsen. When I come back I'm looking forward to going to the aquarium, the old ferry museum and the other museums. There were many interesting places to eat (plus my favourite comfort food places Yoshinoya and Ootoya near the station). Definitely returning to Aomori!
It was middle of winter - not too much to do as roads were blocked but we did a side trip to visit a number of Zen temples and castle round 45 mins away by train and that was brilliant with a local guide - best day
Best located hotel in Aomori and very good value for money. We had 2 adjoining twin bedrooms with in 2 bed in each room for 2 nights for our family of 4. This is new high quality hotel, with high quality large rooms, good beds, excellent staff, nice bathrooms and has best Japanese cafe and one of best casual dining restaurants in town located on 1st floor of same building. Can walk everywhere within minutes.
Aomori
I have no words to tell what I think about the hotel for the reason that it was too good. Expecting a dark guesthouse it was a ryokan like with everything that a ryokan provides. Go there and you ll see yourself if I am exaggerating.
It is very near to the Aomori train station and bus terminal. Buffet breakfast provided was good, both Western and Japanese choices. The staff was very helpful, polite and responded to our request for another 2 pillows.
Location was good, it is in downtown Aomori and only a 20 minute drive from the airport. They also have free parking which was a huge plus. It is easy to find/access and we also got our room for very cheap.
The hotel is perfectly serviceable if a little outdated it offers good value for money. The staff are also extremely kind and polite and my complaint is not about the facilities or their conduct.
The hotel was centrally located, clean and reasonably priced. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and the restaurant and bakery were open on New Year's eve and New Year's day!
Super location in downtown Aomori. Right near the heart of the city and the train station. Bed might have been the most comfortable that we have found in Japan. Great buffet breakfast.
A stroll away from the city centre. It is not the newest hotel in town but it has all you need to rest and get ready for a new day.
Breakfast buffet was good despite incorrect hotel onscreen (English) announcement that buffet was discontinued due to Covid.
Aomori
It was easy to find and very near the shuttle bus that will take you to Aomori airport. Breakfast was cheap but filling.
I like a firm mattress and this one was great. Good size rooms even with 2 beds. Nice hotel. Would stay again
