Great hotel in Colombo with wonderful staff. My room was lovely, with a partial ocean view and small but comfortable balcony. The infinity pool on the 10th floor is fantastic. Highly recommended.

Don’t be put off by the rating. The Queen stayed here! Sure it hasn’t been modernised since then but the rooms are huge, it’s clean, the facilities mostly work ( tv and fridge a bit ropey) and a great view from the dining room. If you’re not happy, ask for another room. And an unbeatable location for Old Colombo. Make sure to explore the hotel and its heritage.

Improvements - in the restaurant area, coffee and tea making facilities to be a bit more secure and spacious. To cater more for western tastes as opposed to locals - ie more cereals and yogurts. At time a bit too tight for numbers.
Pay more attention to health and safety around the tea/coffee area. Milk gets very hot, better signs to indicate this.
When floors are being mopped, to use wet floor sign so people are aware.

Colombo is now getting better after a recession few years back. They are on a speedy recovery. There are lots of places you can visit for sightseeing. If you are going on a business trip, Colombo is an ideal space for staying as they have all the good locations (especially importers and huge markets). Better book private hire through a car company, it's way cheaper if you want to explore the city. Walking is also a good option.

Beautiful city with clean and green infrastructure.
Beautiful city with clean and green infrastructure. Recommended for Indians to visit. Shopping was good (Visited - One face mall, City Center mall, Havalock city mall). Galle face location was great to spend some time with family. Independent square, Gangarama Buddhist temple, Lotus tower tourist spots were nice. 2 days is enough to cover Colombo city.

Havelock Garden BNB is very modern with a very pleasing aesthetic feel. It was spacious and had all the amenities you could possibly need. Great location with some great finds on your door step. Bus service, tuk tuks, shopping Mall, with a free ATM outside (inside charges) Sim card shop 50 metres away apx - end of the road. Sky Bar with infinity pool called Me Bar. Great to watch the city light up and it is happy hour 5-7pm - walking distance . To mention but a few. The housekeeper goes above and beyond to ensure you have a comfortable stay and her Sri Lanken Breakfast is delicious and will set you up for the day. We could also have an english breakfast if desired. We would most definitely stay again.

The city is busy with chaotic traffic.
The city is busy with chaotic traffic. On the night of the 25th city roads from Colombo 3 to Fort were closed and we did not know. When we got a taxi (Uber and Taxis were not able to reach us) they charged 6 times more than the usual fare. The tuk-tuks often charge foreigners very high fees. Make sure you get into one with a functional meter. There are good places to eat. Don't eat street food because their hygiene habits are questionable. Colombo is reported as a dengue-prone area. So use mosquito repellent. During December, there weren't many. Ask the hotel you stay for taxis or use their local Pickme app. Yet it is often wise to check the agreed fee. Otherwise they charge much higher.
We chose Zest Metropole as it is very centrally located in the centre of Colombo. It is close to Gale Face (15 mins away on foot) and the main attractions are reachable by Tuk Tuk . When we arrived we were unexpectedly given an upgrade to a suite. The room was extremely comfortable having excellent amenities. Breakfast was plentiful providing Sri Lankan and Western food. The staff both at reception and in the restaurant always served with a smile. Even though hotel is close to the centre, it is a quiet hotel. Highly recommended.
When I visit Colombo I often stay at the more well know hotels there in the city but wanted to try something different this time and was overly impressed. To be honest I have driven past this hotel at least a hundred times in the past and never noticed is to when I arrived for my 2 night stay I was a little hesitant. Was immediately greeted and given the royal treatment. The room was just as impressive as the friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again when I return to Colombo next week. Breakfast was also better than expected
We really enjoyed our stay at Kings hotel for multiple of reasons. The hotel is clean and tidy, and everyone was super helpful and polite. Location is excellent, at night it was quiet and not far from centre. Managers are very friendly and happy to assist and help with any issues. Highly recommend, if you want safe, comfortable, good priced and nice located stay! They do really care about their guests. A huge thanks to everyone who works there. Definitely going to stay there during our next visits to Colombo.
Srilax are probably the best tiny boutique hotel with a beautiful cafe/garden, the friendliest staff, the most comfortable feel and really has been our home away from home while in Sri Lanka. Staff, omg wonderful. Food, coffee, divine. Rokms no matter which one u choose, all fabulous. Linen, towels, to the filtered water and incense. Soap provided, easy access in and out, and decor to fit the garden/boutique/homely feel and vibe to the whole place. We just LOVE staying here thanks guys once again
The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. They offered many suggestions of areas to visit and places to try while we stayed in Colombo. Chamalee was particularly helpful for my business partner and myself, so I was happy that she was part of the team at Zest Metropole! Overall it was a wonderful stay and a very nice affordably priced hotel. There was also a street fair right outside the Dutch Hospital (the last weekend of each month) so that was a fun little extra we got to enjoy.
We spend 2 days in Ellen's Place just after landing in Colombo. It's a really great place to start Your journey in Sri Lanka.
Rooms are big and nice, staff is very friendly and helpful.
It is not located in centre so tuktuk is useful to get eg to National Museum (no problem to get one); also You don't have many restaurants around but staff can organize a lovely dinner in hotel.
Overall - if You're looking for a peaceful stay in Colombo - very recommended.
The Hotelmanager was one of the nicest and best Hosts we had after 1,5 Year of traveling. He picked us up at the airport in the middle of night. After asking, where we can find some food at this time, we went together to a restaurant and had very interesting conversations. He was the perfect combination of a friend and a very professional hotelmanager.
The Location of the Hotel was very good, also the food!
We will definitely come back, when we go to Colombo.
We booked panoramatic room for our last 2 days in Sri Lanka. Honestly, couldnt done better! Our room was sparkling clean, with jawdropping view from 21st floor. Never happened to me that we actually didnt even leave the hotel, because it was so nice up at the infinity pool with breathtaking views of Colombo. Also room servise is good, tasty snacks. Breakfast and dinners had huge selection of food, both sri lankan as well as international.
The Highbury Colombo is a family led small B&B - I enjoyed the atmosphere immensely and Manoji and Manitha were very kind and helped me also with several tips as well as transfer from the airport and to the trainstation. Take the time to get to know them a bit and definitely go for Sri Lankan breakfast - it was so delicious!
It was the best hotel to stay in colombo.
The pool is imazing and stunning and the food in the chinese restaurant is very delicious
The staff is helpfull and smiling.
The hotel is verey clean and beautiful
Thank you again and hope to come to visit you next year.
The hotel is beautifully decorated and very comfortable, well located in a calm part of Colombo but with everything easily accessible. The staff were very friendly and helped us find somewhere to eat, as we arrived on a holiday when most places were closed.
High class hotel by the sea front, with a spa, multiple restaurants and a really nice rooftop with swimming pool and bar. Ideal to spend 1 or 2 days to relax in Colombo before venturing further into Sri Lanka or taking a flight back at the Negombo airport.
I loved it here!!!! After walking through the crazy loud streets of Colombo, this hotel felt like a spa. It is so calm in their garden and the yoga class I had at the hotel really was the best. Definitely coming back back before I head to the airport.
The hotel is very close to the Colombo Fort station and there are many restaurants and cafès in the neighborhood. People are very kind and ready to help, especially Faraz at the reception will try to accomodate all your requests, always with a smile.
The hotel is brand new- everything is clean. Location is very good. The rooms have big glass windows and the reception area at 10th floor is all with glass where you can have an aerial view of Colombo and the beautiful Indian Ocean.
I think this is the best hostel in Colombo. Well located, modern infrastructures, AC. The manager and the people working there are really helpful. They can advise your on your route around Sri Lanka. Perfect !
Great location, close to many main attractions of colombo, good facilities, great view of lake from swimming pool, good breakfast.. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful.. Specially Supun at main reception..
The hotel is located in a central area.
It is good for short stay like we did after we reached in Colombo then to run away from there.
Staff is kind, like everywhere in Sri Lanka.
This hotel probably has one of the best locations in Colombo - It is right on the beachfront. It has an old colonial charm to it. Would highly recommend staying here.
