Our stay at this hotel was excellent and truly enjoyable! The staff, specifically Salim, Yogesh, Ashwini, Anusha, and Rachel, were incredibly kind, attentive, and pleasant throughout our visit. They really made a positive difference. The views and the overall atmosphere were absolutely stunning. It was a truly unique and wonderful experience that I highly recommend.

    The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than...

    The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than beach resorts, although admittedly there is no beach on this part of the Mauritian coast, so the area attracts a different kind of traveller. It is a rather run-down place but has considerable charm. The waterfront is a lovely (if windy) area to stroll around and the town has some interesting historical attractions - also a few kilometres away, in Vieux Grand Port, the site of the first landing on the island (by the Dutch, in 1598). One matter to be aware of concerns going out for dinner in the town. There are plenty of restaurants in the central area, many of them very welcoming and with very good food, however: - the streets are very poorly lit after dark, resulting in considerable stretches where a torch/phone light is useful; - most streets have no pavements, or very uneven/poor quality pavements where they do exist, so you have to walk in the road - watch your step and beware traffic that rushes past, often very suddenly (however, the local drivers are good at swerving to avoid pedestrians)! - unnervingly, there are large numbers of dogs roaming around on the streets - this seems to be the case all over Mauritius, even in the capital, albeit to a lesser extent. By day they are very placid and tend to shy away from people, but after dark they are often uncomfortably territorial and can be aggressive.

    Mahébourg has a beautiful waterfront.

    Mahébourg has a beautiful waterfront. I prefer the modern part of the city versus the downtown area which has narrower streets. Historical Mahébourg Museum is worth visiting. Don’t forget the delicious Biscuits Manioc!

    A lovely, underrated town in the less touristy South.

    A lovely, underrated town in the less touristy South. We only spent one day there, basically to shorten the trip to the airport the next morning, but we discovered several little gems. My one complaint - it could do with some live sega music. We will definitely spend a few more days there on our next trip.

    The city is not beautiful.

    The city is not beautiful. It is good for accomodation and making trips from the base. There is no nice bar where to go for a drink during evening. There are some good restaurants and nice market. I would recommend to stay in Blue Bay if you can find affordable accomodation there.

    Mahebourg is the downtown of Mauritius, do not stay there unless you wanna sleep for a night so you can be closer to the airport because it is closer to the airport, otherwise the north side is the best for accommodation.

    Mahebourg is not at all touristy.

    Mahebourg is not at all touristy. You get A true taste of island life. The eateries are mainly visited by locals with the odd tourist. They're cheap & always delicious. I must recommend Chez Marilyn. Blue Bay is a short drive from town & well worth a visit! We stayed for 7 nights which was a few days too long, maybe 4 or 5 nights is enough.

    I booked Ecozy Studio for my husband's birthday and he loved it so much that we decided to come here another time. The place was quiet and so green. The studio was clean and very cosy. The little details in the deco and the DIYs were just wow. We had a great relaxing time on the lawn and on the hamac. The studio is just 5 minutes drive to the Mahebourg waterfront. We even went to the Monday market. Hats off to the host who was very quick and polite at replying to my messages. Highly recommended. We'll surely book again.

    Nice gardens, well kept, swimming pool. Large breakfast, we also took dinner at the hotel, excellent food. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with hot water and A/C. Very close to the airport and a 5 minute walk to Beau Vallon Mall. Short bus ride to Mahebourg with market day during our stay.

    Mr Sheik is a very kind and helpful host/manager who organised an equally kind and helpful taxi driver. Coco Villa is a well run little place that is very well situated to explore Mahébourg and Blue Bay. He helped me with calls to my bank and kept an additional bag of of luggage for two weeks.
