We had dinner there and it was absolutely delicious. Beautifully maintained surroundings. Howler Monkey's can be heard off in the distance. The wonderful pool. The view! And the nice breeze at night. Spectacular place. And the staff were absolutely delightful! Darling people!

The location is excellent.
Nice to be out if town, with some fresh mountain breeze.
The villa we were in had a nicely finished bathroom (white, so it was nice & bright), and a comfy bed.
Great pool to cool off in.

Excellent choice for digital nomads and/or those looking for a clean quiet hostel in the center of San Juan del Sur. Spent a week here working remotely and the Internet was fast, stable and battery back up kept it functioning when the electricity in the town went out once for twenty minutes. Friendly and helpful staff. Free coffee and very affordable room price for an otherwise bit pricey town. Everything was clean and functioned well and was very appreciative of the coworking room having AC.

There's something magical about this little beach community.
There's something magical about this little beach community. The vibe and energy are great- restaurants and bars with excellent food & drink everywhere. Locals and tourists are friendly and helpful. We know a tiny bit of Espanol but were able to communicate with no issues, and English is spoken more prevalently than I had expected. Can't wait to visit again!!

It is a busy town, with lots of surfers and retired folks living or visiting. Lots of motorbikes for getting around. Some excellent restaurants along the beach front including Henry's Iguana Bar, and Maggies' Restaurant up the street. Good fish tacos at little kiosk. Great beach walks, lovely sunsets and a few hikes to do. One to the Jesus protecting the bay and the other to the lighthouse on the opposite side of bay. Wear good shoes for those.

Great little beach town with numerous bars and restaurants with amazing sunset views. Very walkable even in flip flops. Not a bad meal to be found! Lots of fun places to watch American football if you like that.

everything is walking distance, you can get to the know the town easily just walking around. I liked Vivian restaurant, nice place, clean, friendly staff.
the beach was full of trash... plastic trash, cups, bottles, cookie wraps, cans... trash all over the sand and in the ocean and for some reason nobody seems to care. it was very impressive and quite sad.
Looking Good Surf House was a great place to stay!

The town wasn't as bad as I was expecting!
The town wasn't as bad as I was expecting! pretty calm in the day and evening, not sure about after that! we were there 2 days and for us that was just right. We went to Remanso beach one day and Maderas beach the other. Rented boards at each and tried to surf! Maderas waves were better, at least when we were there in April. We were at the beaches for about 5 hours each day. I didn't love the fact that Remanso had no shade and neither seemed to have much for facilities, except the few bars/restaurants that you kinda had to eat/drink at in order to have some shade or a shower or somewhere to hang out. Not really my favourite scene. SJDS itself was small town seeming in the center and easy to get around walking and lots of food options and the beach in town was great to explore with the kids, swim or watch sunset. It's easy to get in and our of either on bus from Rivas or taxi- 20$ from the Ometepe Ferry for 4 of us. 25$ to the border organized through Casa Oro.

In the town there are a lot of open sewers and the smell is bad in many places. There is a lot of trash here and there. There is a lot of trash around the beach. The food is ok, the prices are alright. The better prices are away from the beachfront.
Tamarindo is a much nicer and cleaner beach. The Nica's need to clean up the trash and the open sewers.

For our first impression of Nicaragua, Buena Onda was all we could have asked for! The rooms are tasteful and have large, comfy beds, the magnificent view from the common space reaches all over the Bay of San Juan del Sur, every day changing homemade, delicious breakfast is included, there are hammocks to chill in, adorable dogs and cats to chill with, they sell cold beers, sodas, and water, and the host and hostess are just too kind.
It is a quiet and clean place close to the market, restaurants and the music bars in San Juan del Sur. This place has a clean kitchen and comfortable places to sit on sofas, chairs or hammocks. Maria studied English at elite international schools in Managua and was a corporate lawyer from a powerful family with high-level connections in government. But you need to think about your safety and security here.
This property is amazing. Everything is included in the home. Very spacious and comfortable. The best part of the stay was the housekeeper. Cesar did an absolute amazing job taking care of the place and helping us with getting to know the area of San Juan del Sur. Him and his wife made a fantastic dinner for us one evening and it was amazing. Definitely lucky to have him around!
This location was great if you want to escape the craziness of San Juan Del Sur. There's a nice beach right beside the property which is great if you're learning to surf. The beach is quiet and chilled.
Faith and James were lovely hosts. Really nice people and lovely to talk to. It was really quiet too which is what we were looking for.
We only stayed for one night while we sorted out some logistics for our extended stay in San Juan del Sur. It is a very basic, but charming, old house that was quiet for sleeping, and in a very easy location for arrival in SJDS. The staff were pleasant and the included breakfast was good. The air conditioner worked well.
This place is a jewel. It's not a classical hotel with the normal staff. It was clearly built originally as a private home, and that's what it feels like. The views are fantastic, it's quiet and peaceful but only 5 minutes from the beach and the restaurants and shops. Best place I've stayed at in a long time.
it was simple and comfy, really good for one night and the owner and the staffs were really nice and polite, really friendly the whole visit and is really close to the National Turtle Reserve that we wanted to visit, 8min in car and the beach in front of the hotel is really calm and relaxing
We LOVED our stay at Hush. It exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was delicious and the view and infinity pool was amazing. The rooftop view of the sunset and the delicious craft, organic cocktails were the icing on the cake. I would honestly come back to Nicaragua just to stay here.
Arte-Sano Hotel Cafe is the best place we have stayed in Nicaragua. The staff is very caring. The food is awesome and the view is unbeatable 🥰. When coming to San Juan del Sur again we'll definitely stay there again 🤗.
Great views and nice, large common space with hammocks to relax. It’s also nice that there is a small kitchen and a fridge with soft drinks and cheap beers for sale. Rooms are also clean and spacious.
Location was as advertised, right on the beach - however, motorcycles riding by all night was a real bummer. The rooms and shared areas were very clean, and pleasantly decorated.
A really friendly and kind family. If you want a taste of Nicaraguan life in the centre of San Juan del Sur, this is the nicest family to experience it with.
