Located in Granada's Historical Center, Hotel Estrada is located 328 feet from the Main Square and 2.5 mi from La Isleta Island. Hotel Estrada's Junior Suite, the 'MotMot' was absolutely what I needed for the end of my stay in Nicaragua on my way back to Managua. The hotel was private, had it's own restaurant and very classy bar, and the outside courtyard was filled with flowers everywhere wherein you felt privacy in every aspect. My room had a balcony overlooking the courtyard, which was wonderful to sit down and have a glass of wine outside while checking out the grounds. The air conditioning in the room worked well, it had a tv, and had hands down the most comfortable bed in all of Nicaragua. A shout out to the kindest bartender (Maribel) and the amazing chef (Diego) served amazing drinks and dinner! Thank you both!!!

Walking around city seeing Colonial buildings and churches. Sitting in the centre plaza watching local people selling their Local foods .Taking a boat trip to the Islands .Going to the white villages and seeing the amazing craftsmanship of the local people . Take a ride on their local transport through the narrow streets. If you want to hike go to Mombacho volcano and see the incredible views. Then go for a cool swim in Apoyo lagoon and totally chill out and Lastly take a night trip to the Massaya volano and see the amazing view of the bubbling lava .Best place to eat at the Garden Cafe and the Steak House .Top quality food and fantastic prices. I hired a local tour guide called Rodolfo Ortega who owes Nicaragua Escapade who was amazing with Local history ,restaurants, places to visit , hotels and transport.Basically anything you wanted he gave us and he spoke very good English.I highly recommend him as you will learn culture at first hand.He made our stay safe and unforgettable .There is local buses but we had our tour guide.Everything is so cheap there .WE had a high end meal at both these two places mentioned and spent no more than 35 us dollars for two.Beer1.50. WE felt safe there but we did not go wandering the back streets at night in the dark only during day time. There is also a central street with lots lots of bar type food and music on the street. very lively. Shopping you can go to the Massaya Market but you will find stalls also on the streets and you can bargain. I highly recommend this city .
Granada was the first european settlement in Latin America. Today it is a mixture from old spanish cathedrals and churches with latino life in the streets and at the markets. You can go shopping or just sit in a cafeteria and try one of the best coffees in the world they have there. You can go hiking up the volcano Mombacho or do a kayak trip within the hundreds of island at the coast of the lake Nicaragua. You can visit the city of Masaya with the colorful markets or you can do a night trip to volcano Masaya to have a look in the crater of one of the most active volcanoes in the world. People are nice and friendly there like everywhere in Nicaragua. The country is safe and worth to travel there !
Third visit to Granada. Granada is home of Mombacho cigars which has a great lounge. Picholine restaurant was new for me. Great steak at a very modest price and a cigar friendly American owner. Villas Mombacho restaurant on the lake has a stunning location and good food. The cathedral is impressive and worth a visit even if you are not Catholic. Take a boat trip on the lake and see the monkeys. A short journey outside Granada and you get to Masaya volcano which is active. Bubbling lava can be seen.
I loved the friendly people and culture the most. The buggy ride, trip to see an active volcano with Abdalah tours, the restaurants with fresh, healthy food. The Garden cafe, El Garage, Zaguan. I wish I knew more Spanish. It's a tourist town but also a thriving city of working people. Antique and colorful architecture filled with secret courtyard gardens and fountains abound. A wonderful city to wander. The beautiful Hotel Colon Plaza with our huge room and balcony overlooking the square. The beautiful handmade leather backpack and bag I bought at Soy Nica store and conversation with owner. The exquisite 'naive' art at the culture museum. The trinket hawkers are not bad and leave you alone after first attempt.
A lovely city, particularly with all the Christmas lights. Colourful buildings and overall very clean. Plenty of places to eat and drink and socialise. A visit to the Museo de Nicaragua is well worth the time. The chocolate museum is also interesting. If booking a trip to the islands use the tourist kiosk near the main plaza.
Beautiful colonial town with an energetic square, dance music and local street sellers as well as Artistic cafes and good restaurants. I enjoyed a lovely evening meal at a restaurant called Pita pita, there were other equally lovely garden cafes near by! There are horses and carts to take people around the area but the horses were in bad condition please don’t use them, they were under fed, likely dehydrated and had sores on their backs.
