Hotel Dario is a must. Pre book one night and extend if you can. The hotel puts you in the mind set of old colonial grandeur. If you can book a tour with the company next door tierra tours and visit Masaia volcano. Great trip, we booked two and our guide Gustavo was really good. Lively town with a great central Street in the evening's.
Loved the friendliness of the people. The walking distance to everything. The culture and adventures available around the area. The food was so good and affordable prices at family run restaurants. An authentic look at Nicaragua. Easy taxi rides. Great local tour guide.
Granada is a beautiful colonial city located in Nicaragua. It has many colonial churches that date back over 300 years old. Many tours are available such as horse buggy tours, cigar shops, chocolate shops and excellent restaurants.
Granada is a real jewel. The streets are safe and the museum are worth a look. Do your excursions from here as they have the knowledge and expertise to treat you well. The main market is something to see. Took a trip around the islands which was enjoyable. Stopped at the old fort on the water which was interesting. Also did a walking tour which was also interesting.
We only had a brief time to stay. But Granada is a colonial city and at least the downtown part where we were was very clean. We had coffee and dessert at a fun funky place near the center of the city owned by a friendly Frenchman, unfortunately I don't remember the name. We went to the Isletas de Granada and had a 1.5 hour tour of the isletas. Our guide didn't know too much about nature, but that's the luck of the draw. We will definitely go back to Granada.
Walking around city seeing Colonial buildings and churches. Sitting in the centre plaza watching local people selling their Local foods .Taking a boat trip to the Islands .Going to the white villages and seeing the amazing craftsmanship of the local people . Take a ride on their local transport through the narrow streets. If you want to hike go to Mombacho volcano and see the incredible views. Then go for a cool swim in Apoyo lagoon and totally chill out and Lastly take a night trip to the Massaya volano and see the amazing view of the bubbling lava .Best place to eat at the Garden Cafe and the Steak House .Top quality food and fantastic prices. I hired a local tour guide called Rodolfo Ortega who owes Nicaragua Escapade who was amazing with Local history ,restaurants, places to visit , hotels and transport.Basically anything you wanted he gave us and he spoke very good English.I highly recommend him as you will learn culture at first hand.He made our stay safe and unforgettable .There is local buses but we had our tour guide.Everything is so cheap there .WE had a high end meal at both these two places mentioned and spent no more than 35 us dollars for two.Beer1.50. WE felt safe there but we did not go wandering the back streets at night in the dark only during day time. There is also a central street with lots lots of bar type food and music on the street. very lively. Shopping you can go to the Massaya Market but you will find stalls also on the streets and you can bargain. I highly recommend this city .
Granada
Everything was AMAZING. I had read good reviews but everything exceeded expectations! Jerry (sorry if I'm spelling your name wrong!!!) Made all of the difference in the world. He knows EVERYTHING about Granada and gave us some valuable travel information as well as places to go and things to see. Casa del agua is amazing and you literally can't be closer to city center. I will miss his pancakes so much haha and I think casa del agua was the highlight of our stay in Nicaragua because of Jerry and his hospitality!!
This a great place to stay in Granada! Walking distance to city center but far enough away to get away from the noise. The hotel is impeccable clean and the rooms are very nice. The pool is the best, especially during the midday when it gets so hot. Breakfast options are very good and delicious. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful!!! Big plus is they have hot water for the showers. Very hard to find in a hotel for this price.
We love hotel La Polvora. I have stayed here twice and it has been consistently great each time. It is in a beautiful colonial building comes with breakfast and has a relaxing saltwater pool. It is located in a very safe neighborhood that is close enough to the center to walk but far enough out that you get a taste of real Granada. Staff a very attentive and welcoming. It is also a great price for what feels like a Nica upscale stay.
Granada
Oasis hostel really lives up to its name. It really is a safe haven from the sometimes scourging heat of Granada. The staff really does their fullest to make travellers come together, arranging daily activities at the hostel as well as a wide array of organised tours. The pool and bar area is a great place to hang out in the afternoon and the three free drinks happy hour makes the perfect time to chat with fellow backpackers.
We loved the ethics behind this hotel where any profit is channelled into a charity to help young people in Nicaragua. The hotel is perfectly situated close to Granada city centre. There is a beautiful central courtyard space and a lovely swimming pool in the adjoining courtyard. The Friday night free salsa class was great fun. The staff are super helpful and friendly. The laundry service is efficient and good value.
The staff were very kind and attentive and there was someone there to open the gate 24/7. The air conditioning unit kept the room cool, a rarity in other hotels around Granada. The location in front of el malecón was super convenient for visiting the beach, taking a cheap taxi to La Leona, walking to La Calzada for tons of bars and restaurants, or simply enjoying a sunset or sunrise at the pier.
the staff was exceptionally attentive. Beautiful hotel with a perfect location across from main square. Private guarded parking, beautiful courtyard with small pool. Rooms were large, clean and comfortable but the thing that made it best was the staff. From the front desk to the waiters, house cleaning and guards. Thank you for a great stay.
Granada
Very beautiful house with its colonial style. Everything is clean and made to feel like home. Quiet place, close to the center. Carlos, the owner is very nice and helpful! He brought us to a free tour of the city and gave us a lot of explanation on the history of the city. Thank you for everything Carlos! I will come back here for sure
The central location in Granada Nicaragua. The gardens were beautiful within the interior of the hotel. The staff and check-in was all top notch. We also met the owners and enjoyed talking to her all 3 days.
Everything. This is our favourite hotel in Granada. The place is so charming, staff is super kind (thanks to Alejandra), and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We always come back for our getaway.
The location is ideal to enjoy Granada city. The outdoor area with the restaurant, swimming pool and common places are very nice and there is effort in bringing people together through events.
Staff was awesome and super helpful. Sadly no more restaurant but it's understandable. Suite was super spacious and extremely clean. Yes this is my new place to stay in Granada.
The team, pool, lush accommodation in downtown, colonial rooms, the breakfast It Is difficult to beat this Nicaraguan facility.
A bit of luxury in the centre of Granada. Great room and pool, with a solid breakfast
Great room, staff and pool. Agree with other reviews
Granada
We will be coming back again. The perfect weekend getaway. So relaxing. So beautiful. The staff is very friendly and professional. Roman even made us a fabulous dinner of sea bass, mashed potatoes, and a lovely blueberry cobbler. We slept peacefully and loved the whole experience. Next time we will do more hiking and adventuring - there is a lot to do here. We might even bring our kids and rent the larger house.
• spacious rooms • peacefull vibe in both design and atmosphere • fulfulling and most delicious breakfast (you can choose between continental or nica breakfast: with fruits, bread, cheese, eggs, marmalade, ...) • refreshing swimming pool • nicest staff who take care of their guests with a lot of warmth and concern! we felt like home!
Granada
The room was big, clean and even had a tv. The breakfast was always a little different and the staff was very nice. The whole accommodation was really clean and the pool area was very nice. The location was close to the main park and had everything you needed. I would definitely come back!
