This is walking distance from the bus station. However, if you have luggage, you'll be dragging it to 6-10 mins to the hotel. It might be hard if you come during winter. It is near the old town and a supermarket. The buffet breakfast with all those cheese are the best.

I loved that it wasn't very big, yet there was plenty to do there, and it was beautiful as well. I really enjoyed hiking up around the Aksla. There were plenty of excursions that could be done from there, and the scenery was gorgeous. It was very easy getting around the town, whether on fun or via public transportation, and it was relaxing.

Alesund is very beautiful seen from above so make sure you go to Aksla viewpoint where you arrive.
You will love the city if you love the Art Nouveau style.
I am not a fan of this type of architecture so I was not amazed by the city while I was walking in. There is a bit of lack of life and it's very quiet.
However, the landscapes and the nature all around the city is absolutly stunning so this is a great reason to visit this town.

Great city to end my trip around the famous Norwegian Fjords. Clean and walkable city center. Don’t miss out on the 400 steps to the view point above the park. A few restaurants to choose from. Visit the Ålesund aquarium and take a stroll around the old harbor area.

Alesund is a nice town, with much to see. We only thought that there wasn't a lot to do in the evening. For excursions there is plenty of possibilities. Two days is enough for me. Nice that we have seen this.

We were there too late in the season to do the things we wanted to do. The fjord trip was great, but I was hoping to get to Geiranger and Trollsteigen. A pretty place, but not much to see or do in October.

Ålesund is not a nice stay for people who enjoy nature.
Ålesund is not a nice stay for people who enjoy nature. We did the walk to the summit but that was all we enjoyed. So glad we did not stay two nights. It’s a very strange place with few places to eat.
One of the prettiest hotels I've ever had the pleasure to stay in! We loved the unique designs of the entrance, lobby, dining area, lounges, and outdoor spaces. We enjoyed the large windows and high ceilings of our room, and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! The location of the hotel was very convenient for walking around downtown Alesund. Overall, we had an excellent stay, and wished we could have spent more nights there.
This was almost the best accommodation of our 2000-km road trip in 2023. Do not keep scrolling, choose this one! Its location and the access to the room is No1. I just love the way the whole place looks - it is a concrete-built, modern building with many small staircases and hallways, both inside and out. And the room was bigger and more liveable than I thought by the pictures. Finally the bad was the biggest one of our trip to Norway!
Nice regular Norwegian hotel. Nice breakfast, very pleasant service (like in all the hotels in Norway though) of calling the taxi to the place from the Ipad at the entrance. Very good location provided that Alesund is a small city and all the places are very close. Very nice window view from the room to the harbour. Overall very pleasant experience.
I have been in Ålesund multiple times, and this place so far is the best one for this price! Very well furnished and clean. Also the view from the balcony is tremendous. Inger, the manager of the apartment helped me with a few questions. She was really nice & professional. I am more than satisfied and will return again in future. Highly recommended!
The owner Rolf is very welcoming and gave a useful introduction to the place and Alesund when checking in. Location couldn't be better, very central, just next to Jugendstil museum. The hotel has everything needed for a comfy stay and for a very affordable price. Very satisfied with my stay there (stayed for 2 nights), I highly recommend it! : )
Everyone on Norway seems to be friendly. The staff at 1904 were exceptionally friendly , accommodating and were genuinely interested in making the guests stay an exceptional one. I have been in many hotels in many cities throughout the world. I would be hard pressed to find a friendlier more accommodating staff.
10 out of 10! Both, Hosts as well as accommodation were the highlights of our trip in Norway so far. We thoroughly recommend staying there if you are nearby. We have never felt more welcomed and at home in all of Norway. The island is beautiful, lots of nature and birds and walks. We’ll probably back soon!
The hotel is beautifully furnished as a house museum. It overlooks the Summer Museum, the loveliest place to visit in Alesund. The staff and owner are very helpful. Delicious breakfast served with beautiful dishes. An easy and short bus ride takes you to the city center. We would love to stay there again.
We loved staying here in the old barn! So roomy and cozy! We loved the big kitchen and the den downstairs. So nice to be able to spread out. Location was perfect for us, being out of the way but not far from Alesund. Would book here again for sure! Also the host was so very helpful!
Nice & clean apartment. Good furniture & amenities. The host was very helpful. Smooth check in & check out.
Location is great. Very near to Aksla view point & alesund ferry terminal.
Bus stop from the airport bus FB 65 is just 5 minutes away.
The front desk was very friendly and helpful about parking options, sightseeing and nearby restaurants. The hotel is in a good location, we just walked to tourist attractions easily. We all liked self serve coffees and very good breakfast.
Linda’s house is conveniently located just outside Aalesund, and has too many great features for one review). We liked before all her attitude (as arrived late), private parking spot, spacious bedrooms, and of course the sauna.
The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring Alesund. It is right in the centre. The breakfast was a nice buffet with lots of options. The staff spoke English and they were helpful when we needed assistance.
Large accessible apartment with elevator, large bedrooms and had a nice sauna. Room also had an ensuite washer and dryer (quite hard to find a place with a dryer in Norway). Plenty of space and great view.
Great location at a fantastic price, roomy and tall ceiling. Close to the center of the city, 10 min walk from just about anywhere you'd want to be in Ålesund. Parking close by and clean.
Very good breakfast.
Nice place to stay, clean.
Very helpful and polite staff.
If I visited Alesund again, I would choose Quality Hotel Waterfront to stay.
