Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything from fascinating history and great architecture to a friendly atmosphere!
Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down Communist rule in Poland, initiating the end of the Cold War era.
Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the city's near-complete destruction during World War II. You can admire the colorful townhouses of the Old Town by boat on the Motlawa River or by strolling down the popular Long Street and Long Market.
While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St. Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!
Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com has a variety of accommodations near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city center.
A small but lovely city with lots and lots of history.
A small but lovely city with lots and lots of history.
Visited the Westerplatte, which was were WW11 began, a really atmospheric place, which brought home the horror of war.
Solidarity museum and shipyard, was also a must see, another piece of history.
We also visited Sopot, a beach area. This was a very popular place, lots of people around, very pretty.
All in all I would certainly reccomend a vist to Gdansk.

Gdansk got tons of things to do, especially if you appreciate history, art, culture and architecture. The visit to malbork and the old town (especially the old town city hall) a well as the European solidarity centrum were among the best activities.
The city got excellent beer as well as food regardless of you want international food such as burgers and pasta or local polish cuisines such as pierogi well as more museums and sight seeing than you can do in a week, you could easily stay here two a weeks without seeing most of the city and what the areas near by have to offer.
I wish we had two weeks here instead of one.
If I have anything negative to say about the city it's mostly thet the public transport system is a bit confusing (download jakdojade!) but there are tons of options for transport as well as tight departures. Also the traffic can be a bit too much sometimes as the cars ok the big roads travel very quickly with little regard to traffic regulations and pedestrians.

Such a clean and beautiful city.
Such a clean and beautiful city. We only stayed and looked at the main old town area plus the shipyards. Spent 2.5 days exploring on foot. Very flat easy walking. St Bridgit’s church is a must see with its incredible amber alter and St Mary’s stained glass and clim to the bell tower top was great too! 400 steps though so not for everyone.

Some lovely architecture and nice beaches at Sopot.
Some lovely architecture and nice beaches at Sopot. Gdynia was very disappointing. Most buildings in the old town are amber jewellery shops, currency exchange, restaurants, or coffee shops (which are nothing special). There isn't much else unless you go to a generic shopping centre. There are places of interest, monuments, museum etc but overall a little disappointing. Not as interesting as Warsaw or Krakow.

Nice old town to visite on a weekend.
Nice old town to visite on a weekend.
We strongly recommend that you also take a fast train to Sopot which is a lovely little sea town with a very large and beautiful bridge on the sea.
Children will probably love to go on a pirate boat trip but do it when it is warm otherwise you will freeze.
The Amber Museum in Gdansk is absolutely beautiful. Dont miss it.
Food was quite ok. There are restaurang everywhere.
People are very friendly.

There is not enough space to say all I want to here.
There is not enough space to say all I want to here. I love Gdansk and everything about it, and if you haven't been there, then WHY ON EARTH NOT?
Go there at once and DON'T just stick to the old town and Dluga street. These are really good, and I love them too (as I do everything). But there is so much more. Day trips galore, great parks, excellent walking, a huge variety of restaurants and cafes, the river, the many miles of wonderful smooth sandy beaches (and the water is NOT always so cold as you might think!)
Gdansk old town for architecture and history.
Gdansk Wrzeszcz for restaurants and cafes.
Gdansk Oliwa for the fabulous Park Oliwskie.
Sopot and Gdynia for additional fun!
Getting around couldn't be easier with trams and buses galore. Using Google Maps to help you, you'll be able to get everywhere.
OMG I totally LOVE THIS PLACE, and every time spent there is full of great things!
The room is very spacious!
The bed is big and very comfortable.
They have AC 😊
The bathroom is big and clean.
Complete amenities.
Best of all is the location. Its right at the center of The Long Market. You can easily go back to the hotel when you got tired of going around. Eventhough it's at the center it's still very quiet. Very good soundproofing 😊
I love the room that i wished i stayed there longer. But will definitely stay there again when I come back someday 😊
We had a great time here!! we booked the accomodation last-minute while most places were fully booked (on the same day) and did not really had expectations. The garden is VERY beautiful and the house is impeccably clean. There is a fully equipped kitchen to use. We really felt like home, would reccomend to anyone. It is also very easy to get to the old town, we mostly used Bolt since it is so cheap in Poland, but there are several direct trams taking 15 min
The best part of the property was the location. The church view from our window was amazing, especially at night when the church is lit up. We were right in the middle of old town and everything was close. The hotel was comfortable with a little mini fridge and coffee maker for the morning. Another plus is that it has a lift. This was my second time back and I would recommend this hotel. Make sure to get a view room though. It really makes a difference!!
The included buffet breakfast was wonderful. Nice selection of eggs, meats, salads, breads, pastries and espresso.
The staff are courteous and helpful.
The room was comfortable; and reasonably quiet. There was some noise from local bars nearby. (They do offer ear plugs as well)
The hotel location is perfect-- nestled between an old building and large parking area, and directly adjacent to the old town main street.
I would stay here again.
Absolutely great place to stay. Very nice hotel, nice and friendly staff, delicious breakfasts with plenty of food options to choose from, very good restaurant with decent prices and the location ... 20 seconds walking distance from the Neptune fountain as the hotel is located right in the center of the Old Town.
I'll definitely be back and highly recommend Artus Hotel as the best place to stay in Gdansk!
The location is exceptional, opposite the train station, there is also the bus and tram station in front of the hotel. Excellent to get from the airport at any time - safe. Fantastic breakfast - varied. They also have a mini place where you can buy sandwiches, snacks, water and coffee at any time - very convenient, especially when you come late. 10 minutes down to the old town
The hotel is situated in an excellent position, a stone throw away from old town but with easy access via tram, bus and train to get to wherever you want. Walking distance to great restaurants and convenient stores.. loved that the hotel provided carafes in the room you could fill free with cold water, still or sparkling. Breakfast was amazing , so much choice .
One of the best stays I’ve ever had! New apartment, exactly as on the photos. It had everything I needed: towels, bed sheets, hairdryer, dishes. I liked how spacious it was.
In the bathroom there is a very nice mirror with lightning. Less then 10 mins by walking to the Old Town. A couple of grocery stores right near the house. And very friendly host 😊
Spacious room, clean, great beds, TV with Netflix and YouTube, coffee machine, washing machine. Excellent location, just few metres away from Old Town with many grocery stores, restaurants and attractions all within walking distance. The staffs were all very helpful and attended to our needs promptly. Felt like staying in a 5 star hotel.
Hotel is relatively close to the old town, if a 20 minutes walk is not a problem for you. Quiet neighbourhood, the street to reach the hotel is made of rocks, so be careful while driving. Breakfast is ok. The room on a ground floor we have stayed at is spacious, has a kitchen and a refrigerator which might be very useful, but...
- location is great, connected straight to the train station and 10 min walk to Old Town
- small gym but does the job for an easy workout
- sauna was a bonus but I didn't use it
- room was comfortable and big enough for two people
- we went for leisure but great hotel for business use also, WiFi is good and lots of desk space
Comfortable bed, nice room, exactly as is photos, clean, heated floor in the bathroom, great breakfast, good craft beer (with interesting history). We really enjoyed the stay a lot. Walking distance from the old Town. We liked the vibe of the hotel overall. There are interesting photos of old Gdańsk in hallways.
Living room was spacious , there were toys , puzzles , drawing books available for kids to play around
Very near to beach, nice locality , perfect location for family, zabka grocery store is just round the corner
Gadnsk city centre is about 20 min from apartment via cab and it would cost around 35 zl
The room was very spacious and clean. The hotel is located in the centrum of Gdańsk so it’s pretty convenient to reach the old town by foot within 2min. I totally recommend. The parking is located underground so for winter stay it’s convenient to keep the car there, however the parking is not free.
The best thing about this hotel is the location just few steps away from the heart of old town. Rooms are spacious and new. We liked the breakfast and wellness zone of this hotel – there is a pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Wifi worked well and staff was nice too.
The hotel is in a great location in the Old Town ..Spa area was lovely and well maintained..staff were efficient and friendly. Room with a view of the river was very comfortable.Overall a great stay ..would definitely stay there again.
much cheaper yet much more
spacious compared to other hotels.
good service. enough room to sleep 4
people.
nice apartment. only about a 15 minute
walk to the Gdańsk city center.
had a big balcony (amazing to watch
the sunset!!!)
The hotel is very close to old town and we could see the back of St. John's church from our window. The breakfast was good, the room was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful just as in most of our chosen properties.
Love the hotel. It's beautiful with a bit of an old town touch.
Single room was very spacious and heating is brilliant.
Food is brilliant, staffs brilliant, hotel rooms, everything is perfect.
This was our first time we spent at a Puro Hotel and we were so impressed with the your hotel and the staff. The staff were very friendly and always were eager to assist us.
