Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.
At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.
Taipei has tons of museums, but the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed "Road to Heaven" for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.
Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.
Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, the well connected public transportation system can take you to any Taipei hotel on Booking.com.

A unique island trip that offers not only a variety of food, but also the core and current state of Chinese civilization. If you are interested in economy and culture, this is a place where you can enjoy a much more enriching trip.

We were at first overwhelmed by the size of Taipei but quickly got used to the super efficient MRT system which is very easy to use and there are posters up at every station showing the exits and where exactly you are in relation to them.
We found the city a strange mix of old crumbling buildings that looked like they were about to fall down and brand new flashy skyscrapers and shopping malls. Even though the old buildings looked ugly when you looked up, strangely, at eye level they were sometimes quite charming with cute cafes, small bars and restaurants at least this was the case in Zhongshan district where we stayed.
There were so many little places that we wanted to visit, but of course we couldn’t get around them all. Ah well, there’s always next time. We would definitely return to Taipei and next time go further afield into the Tiawanese countryside, perhaps spend a couple of weeks traveling around the island.
We ate exclusively at local restaurants recommended by the lovely staff at our hotel. They were very good and cheap too, also ate at the night markets which were even cheaper.

Friendly people, great restaurants, interesting culture and country history. Not always cheap, so do some research beforehand!
Used a Travel Operator to go to Yehliu & Jiufen & Shifen, on a Day Tour (Departure from Ximending), I was interesting and fun.
I also found some interesting clothes shops, even though I had no intention to buy anything.
If you like tea, Taipei/Taiwan will surely reward your taste buds. But not cheap!
The famous Din Tai Fung (chain) of restaurants is pretty good, and it is worth the experience. I went to the Xinyi branch right at the opening to avoid long cues.
Taipei is a very green city, even though cars and local bikes can't stop moving around!

Taipei is a really colorful and functional city, with very kind people who are willing to help you find your direction around. I would highly recommend a visit to any of the night markets, and to try out some good Taiwanese 'Hot Pot'. The use of trains is the best and most affordable means to get around the city. Try the pineapple cakes too!

I like many places in Taiwan both natural and meseum.
I like many places in Taiwan both natural and meseum. Maokoong gonderla , Beitou Hotpring (should prepare swimming suite), National Palace mesuem- there is a lot of beutiful art to see. I went to Jiefen old street, the view is very attractive. I think the MRT transportation and bus is very convinient and cheap. We also found many kind taiwanese that ready to help you when you get lost. I with family will be very happy and will go back again. : )
The room was very spacious and it’s one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in at a hotel. I’m very picky about my pillows because I have neck issues and these did wonders! The hotel’s air filtration system is amazing because it always smelled so nice. The dinner buffet at Palette was very impressive. From scallops to fresh sashimi and everything in between. The breakfast buffet wasn’t as impressive though. I expected ‘more’ - something more comparable to the dinner buffet. Nonetheless, the entire experience was grand.
- It was spacious, modern decor, and the bathroom was surprisingly large for a budget hotel.
- Extremely clean room with just the right amount of furniture.
- Staff was very courteous and tried to answer our queries promptly.
- There’s an expresso machine in the lobby (no cream or sugar) for free morning coffee.
- There’re 2 sets of fairly new washer/dryer (including detergent) for guests to use first free.
- Lots of eateries and boba drink places within walking distance.
- At least 3 massage places a buck or less away.
Whenever I go back to Taipei for an outstation stay, Ambience Hotel is my one and only choice. From the moment you step into their hotel until you leave, they always give you the warmest welcome. Their customer service is one of a kind; their staff is now like my friends far from home. They always take good care of me. Due to my work, they are always ready with a WiFi router in my room, ensuring I have the smoothest WiFi to do my work! I would say this is the only hotel I would ever stay at when I'm in Taipei.
If you want to get here from the airport, if you are transferring to a flight the next day like we did, get the 48 hour metro pass and get the MRT to Taipei Main, transfer to the Bannan Line and go 2 stops to Zhongxiao Xinsheng, leave exit 4, turn right and walk up the road to the right, turn right and walk past the garden and then walk along until you get to the crossing with the petrol station.
Nice hotel with comfy beds and a lot of space in the room which we appreciated after our flight from London.
This Hotel is located perfectly if you're coming/ leaving via Taoyuan International Airport and want to experience (New) Taipei City. Direct connection to/from Airport and main train station via "Sanchong" Metro station and a great park.
Rooms are spacious, clean, quiet and very large for Taipei.
Staff is friendly and speaks very good english.
Sanhe Night Market (New Taipei), an authentic, non touristic night market is only two metro stops away, here you get what the residents eat and buy.
The room (205) was a bit dark and moldy, but clean and spacious enough. The wifi was fine. The bed was comfortable. There was a desk where I could work at my laptop. The shower worked well and it was separated from the rest of the bathroom, so it didn't pour water all over the bathroom floor, as it is often the case in taiwanese hotels. The AC works well enough. The area is not far from some of the main attractions of Taipei, and there are many cafes and restaurants nearby.
The hotel is just a short walk away from Taipei Main Station, which wins massive points from me. The room was surprisingly big for a budget accomadation, which was a pleasant surprise. The toilet seat has advanced features like a bidet and a heated seat, and the vinyl flooring means it's likely cleaner than a room with carpeted flooring. Plus there's a good number of shopping, food options, and convenience stores around the area, including a McDonalds right downstairs!
This is my first trip to Taiwan with my family. We really enjoy our stay at this hotel. The interior design of the hotel is very unique. Location is superb. There are many good eateries around. Very near to Ximending MTR station. Hotel staffs are helpful and friendly, especially Neon. When we asked for recommendations of accessories shop, he even personally took us to the shop during his break. I will definitely stay in this hotel again if I visit Taipei in the future.
Hotel Le Home was exceptional, it was clean and roomy. We were pleasantly surprise with the huge bathroom that comes with a jacuzzi bathtub, given the price that we paid. Extremely in love with the interior design of the room, it gives a modern minimalist nordic vibes, totally instagrammable. Double bed exceeded our expectations too, it was huge and very comfortable. Looking forward to return for another stay when we travel to Taipei again.
Yusense Hotel is right place to stay if you want to spend a few days away from overbusy Taipei downtown, this hotel is just in 15 min away from 101 by taxi and 25 min away from Shilin MRT by walking. Near by you can find an amazing parks, I strongly recommend to went both of them. During our long honeymoon holidays we've stayed there twice, everything was absolutely good, extremely friendly stuff helped to fix a small issues we faced.
Very comfortable bed and spacious room. Very clean. The Aircon was appreciated. It was very quiet. Very nice staff and good coffee. Great location to get anywhere in and around Taipei and Taiwan - walking distance to the main station. Just north of the hotel are many bars and late night restaurants. You can't hear them but it's very useful if you like to eat dinner later than 20:30 when many restaurants close.
Clean, level two communal area is very comfortable. They provide good coffee from beans as well as snacks and instant noodles. There are even sparkling water from the machine.
Very friendly staff, we had a kid with us and the staff are patient when the kid makes noises.
There are two convenience stores right below the hotel and many good restaurants around us.
We stayed at the hotel one night before dropping our rental car at Taipei Airport. The room was small but well-designed. Reception at the front desk was excellent, and they physically showed us where the car parking was. The beakfeast was also very good, and we appreciated the in-room bath. We found a lot of opportunities for eating in a major street nearby.
This was a really relaxing hotel to stay in for a getaway trip to Yangmingshan 陽明山. The hotel is located right across the street from a bus that will take you directly to the main bus station at Yangmingshan 陽明山, so you can take another bus to the National Park. I also appreciated that breakfast was included.
Hotel was wonderful, centrally located. Staff were professional, friendly and hospitable. The room was spacious with a standing bathtub and over extra wide bed! Separate shower from the toilet room. We had such a pleasant stay we came back our last night before coming home.
People working at the hotel are amazing! So friendly and helpful I felt like at hone. The location close to a small park with a pond with fish and birds. Close to everything you need. The restaurant is fantastic, great breakfast and dinner.
Hotel is located across from Daan park which you have to take a couple of hours to walk through. I was surprised at the variety of birds in the park. Other attractions are easily accessed by metro or Ubike.
The location is great. There's a car park right in front of the hotel, great for those who rent a car during their travel. Within short distance walk there are MRT stations. Xi Men is about 5-8 minutes walk!
Park Taipei Hotel is a great accommodation in the heart of Da'an. The location couldn't be more convenient, with the metro station a few steps away, and plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants nearby.
Great location, easy to access Taipei 101 via a raised walkway adjacent to the hotel. The property feels quite grand, with an imposing foyer and polished marble galore.
