Independence is a small town that has the right amount of amenities to enjoy in a few days. Love the lake, walk the downtown area (just wish to see more open stores) and delicious places to eat! Plus, the free zoo, park, train and best the mini-golf all in one area. Love the small store where you find quality dairy products. I have to visit the museum next time.

The TV remote was broke, the air conditioning was broken the door to get into the hotel was broken so we had to walk all the way around to the lobby. Independence, Kansas is a quaint little town. We enjoyed the down town..Loved the small shops.. We had dinner at Brothers railroad Inn.. The food was delicious.. We also stopped at a local coffee shop named Ane Maes Coffee and Sandwich shop. Coffee and sandwiches were superb.. The people are friendly and we felt safe..
