All shops are closed in Frostburg on Sunday and Monday which was surprising to me. Very limited food options in town.
Streets were deserted, even Frostburg University.
I didn't particularly feel safe as I took a late afternoon walk. After checking Frostburg city safety ratings I would not recommend traveling alone there. A very disappointing visit for me.

Frostburg is a college town.
Frostburg is a college town. School was out during our trip, however we did take a drive around the campus. My husband worked for University Of Maryland for years so we know what college towns are like. Main street was full of places to eat & shops to visit. We actually drove into Grantsville Maryland, LaVale & Cumberland. Frostburg is a great middle ground to stay & be able to be in any of these beautiful towns in minutes.

Frostburg is nice. The people are nice.
Frostburg is nice. The people are nice. It’s a small town that’s slightly boring. Even thou it’s a college town. There’s is nothing to do. Literally, Walmart and dollar tree. There is a mall about 10 miles away that has like 5 stores. The good thing is that most of those stores had like 75% off. Otherwise. The excitement was checking into the hotel that didn’t have a pool 🤷🏽♀️
This Hampton Inn goes above and beyond in all areas - service , cleanliness and comfort are all top notch. The staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating. The rooms and common areas are all sparkling clean. And they go out of their way for your comfort too - beds and linens very comfy , lots of fluffy towels , extra coffee and tea and coffee cups in the room, room is spacious and well designed, bathrooms are large and luxurious.
Location was great as there aren't a ton of great places to stop across Pennsylvania in the mountains. As far as south goes, Frostburg is a little city and the price was excellent on the room. Charlie seemed great from the tiny interaction I had with him. Quite a lot of appliances + fridge as well which was nice.
We needed a place to stay for one night on our way across Maryland. This hotel had good ratings and much more reasonable rate than other hotels in the Cumberland/Frostburg area, so we tried it. We were quite pleased and will use it again if we need to stop in that area.
What breakfast? I couldn't find any in hotel so I went to the Princess. I liked the staff. They all were very helpful and courteous. Repairmen also were quick and good about the lock. Hopefully, other recommendations I gave will be handled in a timely manner.
We Were going on a day excursion on a private railroad.
The motel was convenient and the best value in the area.
The man running the motel was friendly, he knew the area
to recommend restaurants etc, and he had a great sense of humor.
Accommodating, friendly owner. I arrived before formal check-in, allowed in. Very economical, sparse facility. Served my intended purpose of 1 overnight stay just passing thru. A lot to do in Frostburg on the Appalachian Gap trail.
Breakfast was great both mornings. Plenty of selection and was located down the hall from our room. Less than a minute walk was needed to reach the front desk/breakfast area.
