It's been 5 years since I was in Topeka. Perviously, I lived here for more than 10 years. I was shocked to see how many restaurants had lowered the quality of their food. There were a couple of places where the customer service was very good but, overall, employees seem to be aiming for the lowest acceptable form of service. Why is it that the Walmart employees can be so friendly and helpful while most stopped caring? Our reason for going to Topeka was to tour the State Capitol...
Our reason for going to Topeka was to tour the State Capitol building which we try to do in each state we visit. It was a lovely building! So glad we had a chance to see it on a self-guided tour. The young man at the hotel had recommended Iron Rail Brewing Company for dinner and it was great! We each had a flight of local beers which we enjoyed. For dinner I chose BBQ brisket and ribs with coleslaw and Texas toast and my sister had the grilled cheese with brisket sandwich and fries. Delicious!

We were only there for 1 night.
We were only there for 1 night. We met with Rocky Mountain Collie and Sheltie Rescue to pick up a dog. It was convenient, the location was quiet, because it was off the main drag in a business park. We got carry outs from Panera's. Our dogs (x2) were able to stay with us.

Great place to visit.
Great place to visit. Come with a car or rent one, shopping and other things to see are kinda scattered around the area. I used lot of UBER and I have to say Topeka has the friendliest most helpful drivers I ever met.
