Dong Hoi has some beautiful beaches by the resorts, but there really isn't much else going on. There seemed to be 1-2 streets where you could shop or buy things, and there was no nightlife. Caves are really a great attraction to visit in Vietnam! In addition to the caves and nature, we enjoyed the river view and walking along the river. We visited the other side of the river where the locals live in small picturesque houses.

Great restaurants right there , a beautiful water front park and walking path and as a bonus a great common patio looking over it all. I usually stay at hotels and decided that due to the reviews and location I would try something different. The Dolphin was a great change to the somewhat repetitive experience of hotels. The hosts were great and arranged everything I wanted to do and as well as serving a great breakfast when needed. I would not stay anywhere else if I returned.
