We loved the antique, yet comfy bed, the large bath tub, the wood fire & the delicious breakfast that the lovely owner made for us. She also provided informative information on the platypus who live in the local creek. Unfortunately we couldn’t wait for Mr Platypus, so I bought a post card of a platypus photo! Well done to the owner of Bears Went over the Mountain! We were in room 2 on 26.11.22.

One of the most spectacularly positioned places I've ever stayed. Incredible spot with around 270 degrees of water views. Just ridiculously pretty.
Hosts are wonderful with great local knowledge and open spirit.
My days were booked up with hiking and adventures but I'd love to return and take advantage of the yoga classes and just spend some down time. A real treat. The fireplace was wonderful and shared spaces beautifully well equipped and appointed. You'll want for nothing.
I found this location absolutely perfect as a jumping off point for many of the destinations I had planned to explore in Southern Tas, and a welcome respite at the end of those days. Just wonderful. You can even catch the aurora!

Beautiful little town surrounded by mountains and only a short drive to beaches, walking tracks and other local attractions. Plenty of places to eat, fantastic IGA to pick up any last minute supplies and a laundromat. Visitor information centre was a great source of local knowledge and plenty of things to browse and buy.

Everything was perfect.
Everything was perfect. We had the best stay and if we return for another visit will would probably stay in that area and make it home base.
The hosts were very caring and the home is beautiful. It felt like home and there's no better recommendation than that. The breakfasts were superb and the bed was made how I make it at home. Not tucked in so when you go to get in, you almost have to remake it. Many memories of my Dad there too which made it even more special. 10 out of 10.

We visited in order to run the southern most parkrun in Australia. A delightful course around a park, all the locals were very friendly. The park has a stream running through it with platypus living in it, we saw them, very exciting.
We stayed at this small, cute, boutique hotel for 2 nts and we loved it. Primarily, Audrey who was chief cook and bottle washer made us feel at home, unlike our stays at big fancy city hotels. The breakfast, cooked by her was delicious as was the dinner each night. The bed was really comfy, the room was clean and the place was so quiet at night. Thankyou Audrey for making us feel so comfortable & welcome. Loved the fireplace roaring in the dining room. If we ever return to Geeveston or that area, this hotel would be our 1st choice.
This place is exceptional. Multiple breakfast options- cereal, eggs, sausages, bread, jam and plenty of tea - black, herbal. Biscuits, cooking oil, butter. Coffee machine, washing machine, dishwasher, bath, towels, linen etc. really clean throughout. Big dining table, lounge with fireplace, verandah and courtyard for sitting. Beautiful bush surroundings, very helpful owner. Close to Geeveston and Hartz mountain where we hiked. We wanted to move in!
This is one of the most healing, restful places i have ever stayed. Host Kim is one of the most beautiful lovely people I've met and i felt incredibly welcome as soon as i arrived. You can see the care, love and attention to detail the hosts have put into building this place. And you are surrounded by the most gorgeous, inquisitive and friendly animals you can imagine. If you just want to rest and see what Geeveston has to offer, this is the place.
This little B&B in Geeveston is wonderful. It's now run by a generous Japanese couple who provide a lovely Japanese influenced experience - in terms of hospitality and food. The Japanese breakfast and the (optional dinner experience) were an unexpected surprise. Located in a beautiful old house with nice gardens and creek (with resident platypus), it offers a peaceful retreat. Handy to some lovely scenic drives and a short walk to the town.
We've been travelling through Tasmania for a week or so and this was by far the best place we'd stayed at. The house is big and feels like a house, the pictures really don't give it justice! Everything was super clean and comfy, fully equipped kitchen and anything you may need. Would totally recommend it. Jo was very nice and even left us some food in the fridge!
The place is easy to find, just some 3 minutes by car from Geevestone
it was a very beautifully restored home from 1870. Had an amazing breakfast served at the beautiful Cambridge House. . The owner and his wife were wonderful. He is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ chef and worked in restaurants around the world and on the Gold Coast. Now they have chosen a quite life in Geevston to bring up their family. Many thanks #cambridgehouse
One of the highlights of the trip! This is a beautiful building, very clean and welcoming, and the young owners are doing a fantastic job running it. We didn't have dinner but the breakfast (included), alternating between Western and Japanese, was to die for. My partner wanted to stay longer just for the breakfast!
The Bears Flew Over the Mountain was a great B&B guest house in Geeveston., Our breakfast was a cooked one, very tasty, all you could want, and included in the tariff. Good set-out point for the Tahune tree walks. Our hostess was warm and friendly, too. Good animal watching location around sunset.
Our family room was spacious, clean, and just what we needed for a one-night stay. The hotel was located nearby to other shops and was within walking distance to a playground and a Platypus Walk, which was great for letting the kids burn off some energy before our next destination.

Great location, in the centre of Geeveston (Town) beautiful and clean BNB, Host Audrey cooked us a delicious breakfast, even filled our travel mugs with coffee for us as we had an early start to Bruny Island.
