- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 1,144 reviewsWe stayed there for one night on our way from Bari to Sicily. The hotel rooms are placed in a corridor building forming an arc. The pool was really nice, and the water was warm. A lot of outdoor space. There is a football pitch, tennis court, night show for the kids, animators (both kids and adults)… The hotel is about 2 km from the beach, but there is a bus to and from the beach. We had bed and breakfast but opted to pay for the buffet dinner. It was amazing. The pasta was excellent. Breakfast was very nice as well. The staff was very pleasant. Friendly and doing their best to cooperate.Guest review byNenadNorth Macedonia

Our stay at Vetera Matera was absolutely spectacular!
Our stay at Vetera Matera was absolutely spectacular! This 5-star hotel perfectly captures the magic of Matera while delivering uncompromising luxury at every turn. The Rooms: We stayed in rooms 7 and 16 - what a contrast! Room 16 offers breathtaking panoramic views over the entire Sassi, while room 7 provides an authentic cave experience carved directly into the ancient rock. Both rooms feature stunning vaulted stone ceilings and impeccable design that seamlessly blends historical authenticity with modern luxury. The Spa: Phenomenal! The wellness center with free spa access for all guests is incredible - what a fantastic inclusion! The facilities are world-class and having complimentary access to the spa amenities makes this exceptional value. We also booked a massage, which was absolutely wonderful. The Location: Perfect positioning in the UNESCO World Heritage Sassi district. You're literally staying within history itself, surrounded by millennial caves and ancient stone architecture. The Experience: Every detail reflects the hotel's commitment to excellence - from the careful restoration preserving authentic stone walls to the contemporary amenities. The staff's attention to detail and exceptional service made our stay truly memorable. Matera is indeed magical, and Vetera Matera is the perfect way to experience this ancient wonder. This hotel sets a new standard for luxury hospitality in one of Italy's most extraordinary destinations. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an unforgettable luxury experience in unique Matera!Guest review byAsya GrinbergUnited States - 10.0

We had the most amazing meal at La Torre restaurant, Giuseppe is an amazing chef. His wife is an amazing host. Our food was of a very high standard and very well presented. I had a glass of red wine that was from the area. I so regret not taking a box home. Absolutely, love our stay. Unfortunately we only stayed one night. Will go back for sure.Guest review byAdele RodoSouth Africa - 8.0

I liked the old city center area, all the restaurants and shops just a short walk on mostly level ground. It seemed very safe! I would have liked to see the museum but it was a little too far and down a steep hill for a troublesome knee. A little knowledge of Italian and a translation app was helpful. The people would work with you and overall we’re very kind.Guest review bySuzanneUnited States - 10.0

We found Metaponto a peculiar town, but do not regret having visit it. The reason for our visit was that said town is the town in which Pythagoras died. Presumably everyone's travels are individually motivated. In our case the hotel we picked suited best our visit to Metaponto. We definitely recommend the hotel, and the visit to Metaponto, we leave everyone to decide for oneself.Guest review byMariyanaGermany - 8.0
Marinagri offers very unique vibe.
Marinagri offers very unique vibe. It is peaceful and very tranquil, you will feel welcome and safe. Policoro is a small city. However it is very cute and people are kind, the weather is great in September. The reason I decided to travel to Marinaagri is sailing in the Ionian Sea. My sailing experience was sensational and I am happy I discovered new destination for my new sailing journeys. The food is amazing I did visited Nemo restaurant, this is very unique place with amazing food choices an first you may think it is a fast food place but I’d you go to Policoro you must try it it is amazing. Seafood is fresh and local and very tasty.Guest review bymariana - 10.0

Extremely charming and beautiful village lost in breathtaking scenery. Easy to walk and experience as a stopover destination but also worthy of a one night stay just to enjoy the night views, the serenity and a good sleep in the clean air!Guest review byPantelisGreece - 10.0

Matera is an amazing town and needs a tour organised to hear of the history of the town and area is a must. We did an English tour with Seekers Viaggi travel Agency which was very informative and delivered very well. Questions were answered as required. The walking tour was at 5pm which was a perfect time - pretty quiet and nice to walk as the sun was setting. Need a good pair of shoes and be prepared to walk down stairs but then back up them at the end.Guest review byIanTAustralia - 10.0

Loved going up to Christ the Redeemer it was a fantastic view of the area.Worth the zigzag drive up . We went into the village and down by the boat harbour for dinner . Had the best ever dessert at 1999 ll Ristorante. The food there was amazing . Loved the beach ,the water felt warm , great for swimming. The only thing we found difficult was parking . It’s easy to find your way around but parking is difficult.Guest review byJacqui FallowNew Zealand - 10.0
An interesting city for a short visit.
An interesting city for a short visit. A nice Archeological museum (general tours are in Italian exclusively). The city is rich in its theatre but unfortunately, we came out of a season. The historic city centre is situated on the top of a high natural hill; verticals in the city are striking. Therefore, free public elevators are quite ordinary means of transportation.Guest review byMaxim4ikIsrael - 10.0
Adorable town with incredible views.
Adorable town with incredible views. Loved strolling at night when it seemed the entire village and all ages were out in the piazza enjoying each other. We didn't do the Flight of the Angels as my husband has had back surgery, but it looked fabulous. So glad we spent a night in this gorgeous village!Guest review byBrendaUnited States
