Great location in the middle of the Sairee beach area with minimal noise at night. Large spacious room with kitchenette (with fridge, sink, portable hob and microwave) and balcony at the front. Very clean and well maintained! Room had Aircon and an area from drying clothes etc on balcony.
The double bed was very comfy and clean linen. The room had a kettle and fridge perfect for a morning coffee on the balcony. Would highly recommend and I would stay again if I was in the area.

Lots to do particularly if you want to scuba or snorkel.
Lots to do particularly if you want to scuba or snorkel. In my opinion it's more an adult destination as lots of bars and people openly smoke cannabis. Lots of mopeds racing around small streets. The food is great and value for money. If you enjoy travelling, take a boat taxi to other beaches or book a tour. There is plenty to do and see.

Travelling to Samui I was really disappointed with the snorkelling, luckily I had spare time at the end of the holiday where I hadn't booked & we took a 3 night trip to Koh Tao. It had the best beaches in Thailand in my opinion. Sairee beach had great restauarants, the Thai people were amazing (although this is the same wherever you go in Thailand). Getting around you really need a moped, which might put some people off.

A few days is nice here as it is a small island.
A few days is nice here as it is a small island. Great for diving and snorkling. However:
- The coral is dead unfortunately, the few turtles are harrassed by tourists and are not treated nicely, Shark bay is owned by a resort and they profit from the tourism to the sharks. I advice to stay away from this part.
- The island is not genuine Thai culture experience anymore but overrun by tourists unfortunately (March 2024). In the town there is not a spot without a scooter and party places. Weed places and stores everywhere and Western food. I would not recommend the town to people looking for culture, for genuine Thai experiences (except some restaurants) or for a quiet holiday if you stay close to town. Go look for accomodations far from the town centre and you will have an amazing time though (Jungle, freedom beach etc.)
- Scooters are for experienced people only, we saw too many crashes/falls and people with severe injuries. It is really not worth it to rent a scooter if you do not know how to drive uphill/mountains and on the left side. If you go for it, wear at least a helmet and your children too. So many people with babies? and little kids? without a helmet, like are you really risking that?
- Most of it you can just walk, walk or take a taxi if you are unknown with scooters

Our villa with own pool was the best.
Our villa with own pool was the best. If you dive and you are in your 20s you enjoy the place a lot. If you are older, it’s quickly seen.
Sairee beach area is not my place . Other parts of the island I did not see; difficult to go around.
I missed vegetables to eat on this island but fresh fruit shakes, I loved. Local food was cheap but delicious especially seafood.

Koh Tao isn't the biggest of islands, you can hire scooters but some of the island is different to access via scooter.
We stayed in Mae Haad and there are plenty of restaurants/bars to choose from some of them being beachfront.

The roads to many places are insanely steep.
The roads to many places are insanely steep. Two people on a rental motorbike could not make it up some hills. We are not heavy people and a couple times one had to get off and walk. Alternatively if you think your going to taxi everywhere bring a large stack of cash. 300-400 THB each way, everywhere you go and that''s an 8 min drive. Islands pretty small. Best to have a rental motorbike for each person but even that was to scary for my partner. Also this island is really all about diving and partying. Excellent if that's you jam.
Moov Inn was the last hostel I stayed in during my month long trip in Thailand and I can confirm that it was by far the best of them all.
The social area had an amazing vibe and the drinks were nice and cheap. More significantly, the hostel manager (Dao) is one of the loveliest people I have met during my holiday. From Korean BBQ’s to competitive pool games, there was a clear emphasis on ensuring those staying had a great time!
I fully recommend those travelling to Ko Tao to stay at Moov Inn!
The best location! Right down the main street but without the noise. Luxurious room, great airco, comfy beds and pillows, fridge. Amazing pool with private beach just down the street. Absolutely would recommend and would stay again! Nice staff, fresh welcome drink, free transport back to the port are a nice extra. Willingly to help you book tours, give directions. Best location in Ko Tao?! Close to Sairee beach/bars/restaurants/shops/tour offices/snorkeling possible right from the beach.
We really enjoyed our stay at Island Dive Club. The location is excellent. It is a stone's throw away from Sairee Beach and less than a ten minute walk to the main nightlife area in Koh Tao. There are also lots of nice restaurants and massage parlours near the hotel. Our room was very spacious and the beds were super comfortable. They provided beach towels free of charge. There was a free shuttle back to the pier when we checked out too which we greatly appreciated.
Location is 5 stars. Right in the middle of Sairee Beach with everything you need close by - great restaurants/cafes, motorbike and snorkel rentals, and you can book the Oxygen snorkel tour at the front desk (highly recommend!).
Beds are super comfortable. The hostel is very clean and well maintained. I think the upscale image and pricing attract a more mature clientele that are respectful and quiet in the evenings (at least that was the case when we were there).
Location for sure! My bungalow was located almost on the beach, close to the restaurant and diving place. I didn’t move around the island, I stayed on the beach and enjoyed last days of my 2 months vacation. There was everything I needed - few restaurants and diving center - Buddha View. And the beach - the best snorkelling spot on the island. 2 weeks before I did my open water diving course and wanted to practise my skills and this is the place to be!
I called it a “luxury hostel”, amazing mattress, blanket… super nice hang out area with many cozy places to sit and chill… the best local recommendations for all the things to do in Ko Tao… the owners are absolutely lovely… and somehow the hostel attracts other like-minded travellers who are into sports and nature… (and not super young and only partying)… best place I’ve stayed at in Thailand!
we had a beach bungalow for our stay in ko tao during Christmas and we thoroughly enjoyed it. the property was very close to the beach, staff were very friendly organising taxis, ferry transportation etc. 10-15 mins walking distance to plenty of bars/restaurants and shops was fine for us and we liked being away from the busier parts of the island. amazing spots for the sunset!
This beach is amazing! Location is great and the hotel occupies the whole bay! Walk 10-15 minutes to the next bay and you will find wonderful restaurants and massage places, 5 minutes on the other side of the bay the best snorkelling spot with giant turtles feeding. But when you travel to other parts of The island or the country you will realise how ideal this place is.
Fresh and spacious rooms in cool and unique design. Staff was very kind and helpful with everything.
Hotel is located on best possible site right on Sairee Beach with great restaurants everywhere.
Easy to rent a bike and get around the small island to visit the most beautiful places we have ever been to.
We extended our stay with one night due to all things above!
The welcoming staff - the pickup from the boat - the everyday shuttles to the city - the room was very calm and clean - very good standard - choose this hotel if you are staying in Ko Tao - it will allow you to have the call at night from the center but be at 8 minutes walk to city center and 5 minutes away from the best breakfast place.
Beautiful views from restaurant and swimming pool area. Plus from our garden villa. Good bar /restaurant. Staff very nice and helpful. We could use snorkelling gear of hotel. Short walk to beach is a bit of an adventure in a good and bad way Tanote bay fantastic for snorkelling Really enjoyed our stay at Tanote Villa
The Hotel is way up the steep hill. So, really have to climb a lot: the one and only restaurant is by the beach. So, after any meal you have crawl up the mountain. Last night I have changed to a bungalow by the beach and then it was o.k. So, all the garden view bungalows are a no-no… unless you’re into heart stress test.
It's a cozy place, nice pool, basic room, but all we needed was in place. There are different types of rooms, some are very modern, but we had an older room. It wasn't beachfront, you walk 1 min to the beach. The hotel restaurant looks special, beachfront and they offer tasty staff.
Great service, better than in 4 other hotels we visited before in Thailand (4-5 stars). Good maintenance of the bungalows. Stunning views, great not busy beach. Good restaurant with affordable prices. Snorkeling is also super.
We loved everything. The hotel has a really amazing location next to the beach on the quiet side of the island. The beds were comfy, the AC worked pretty well, and the staff was always available. We highly recommend this place
Comfortable room, bed is comfy and all amenities are included. Extremely good value for money. Can rent scooter from hotel for 150 baht a day so really cheap - will need one. Hotel is uphill from Sairee beach.
This is the best place to stay in Ko Tao, the hotel manager is very friendly and you have this amazing bar in front with really good food for all the meals of the day. You can watch magic sunsets from here!
located on one of the most beautiful private beach of the island.
the hotel is clean and the staff is nice.
the facilities are really nice with multiples pool in the hotel and good beach bar.
Comfortable room, nice pool, quiet hotel. I liked the location, a quieter place away from the bustle of Sairee beach, but still a walkable distance. Helpful and friendly staff.
