The hotel was a 30 minute walk from the ferry pier. We were unprepared for that and should have taken a “taxi.” Once we got there, the hotel was great. Large room, nice balcony, nice pool, and friendly staff. SaiRi area is abundant with good restaurants, once you get there.

It was okey.
The rooms on the first floor dont have balcony and are a bit sad.
There was a bit of smell in the bathroom (but the whole island has similar problems), I guess in 2nd or 3rd floor there problem will be less.
It was very clean, with comfortable bed and pillows.

I stayed in the room next to the reception, and the WiFi was excellent for my work and early morning calls. The pool was clean and beautiful, and the staff was very kind, accommodating all my requests. I was able to purchase a boat ticket from them as well. The bed was big and comfortable, and the price was reasonable considering everything else in town was either sold out or more expensive.

Great location in the middle of the Sairee beach area with minimal noise at night. Large spacious room with kitchenette (with fridge, sink, portable hob and microwave) and balcony at the front. Very clean and well maintained! Room had Aircon and an area from drying clothes etc on balcony.

Apart of the Pier areas the island is so nice and relaxing place....but...... It's a pitty that the reefs are more and more destroyed. And I do not agree that this is the fault of tourists...it is a kind of shifting the blame on them but reality is different (I travel to South-East Asia (mainly Thailand) for the last 20 years and I observe the situation. Increase of tourism should be regulated, restricted and controlled by authorities. The longboats (so noisy, dirty) docking straight on the beach and taking the tourists straight from the beaches...the cruise ships entering the coast so close...hotel/property owners that do not care about surroundings, not even talking about global attitude)...all causes the damages of reefs and local environment ... it is sad and frustrating, especially when You observe if from the time perspective...really pitty :(
On the other hand, I do not stop loving Thailand and Thai people !!!

Koh Tao is one of the most beautiful places you can visit in Thailand. Its a lttle bit hectic getting there and leaving via the busy ferries. But once you are there, there is everything you need from bustling little village areas, to remote rocky outcrops in the mountains with amazing views. The food variety is truly amazing and to suit every budget. If you are comfortable, rent a scooter and have a safe, slow drive around. Theres no need to go anywhere in a hurry on this little island. And wear a helmet!!!

Interesting island, good location to really get away from the world for a few days. Don't bother visiting if you aren't comfortable driving a motorbike- it's the only way to really see the island properly and get around. Good food selection available, decent nightlife, wonderful snorkelling.

Lots to do particularly if you want to scuba or snorkel.
Lots to do particularly if you want to scuba or snorkel. In my opinion it's more an adult destination as lots of bars and people openly smoke cannabis. Lots of mopeds racing around small streets. The food is great and value for money. If you enjoy travelling, take a boat taxi to other beaches or book a tour. There is plenty to do and see.

Travelling to Samui I was really disappointed with the snorkelling, luckily I had spare time at the end of the holiday where I hadn't booked & we took a 3 night trip to Koh Tao. It had the best beaches in Thailand in my opinion. Sairee beach had great restauarants, the Thai people were amazing (although this is the same wherever you go in Thailand). Getting around you really need a moped, which might put some people off.

A few days is nice here as it is a small island.
A few days is nice here as it is a small island. Great for diving and snorkling. However:
- The coral is dead unfortunately, the few turtles are harrassed by tourists and are not treated nicely, Shark bay is owned by a resort and they profit from the tourism to the sharks. I advice to stay away from this part.
- The island is not genuine Thai culture experience anymore but overrun by tourists unfortunately (March 2024). In the town there is not a spot without a scooter and party places. Weed places and stores everywhere and Western food. I would not recommend the town to people looking for culture, for genuine Thai experiences (except some restaurants) or for a quiet holiday if you stay close to town. Go look for accomodations far from the town centre and you will have an amazing time though (Jungle, freedom beach etc.)
- Scooters are for experienced people only, we saw too many crashes/falls and people with severe injuries. It is really not worth it to rent a scooter if you do not know how to drive uphill/mountains and on the left side. If you go for it, wear at least a helmet and your children too. So many people with babies? and little kids? without a helmet, like are you really risking that?
- Most of it you can just walk, walk or take a taxi if you are unknown with scooters
First of all our stay was amazing! The location, the beach and the hotel room was just perfect. We are still on our trip in Thailand but already think this will be the best hotel of our stay in Thailand.
The people who work there are always interested in your day and are very lovely.
On top of that, we forgot some stuff in our safe. We already left to another island but they responded quick and put the stuff the same day on the ferry to the island where we stay. Again thank you so much for this!!
Pool was very nice after a day of diving or snorkelling. Small beach in front of the hotel although not Koh Tao's best. Short walk to all shops and restaurants and to the pier. Transfer back to the pier included. Nice breakfast.
The hostel is in a quiet street but within 5 min walk to the Main Street/beach. The owner is very friendly and knows the island well- thank you so much :) the hostel is also mostly quiet and close to Roctopus diving school!
Comfortable room, bed is comfy and all amenities are included. Extremely good value for money. Can rent scooter from hotel for 150 baht a day so really cheap - will need one. Hotel is uphill from Sairee beach.
