Fantastic home thoughtfully renovated which still preserves an authentic historic feel. It is well equipped with everything you need regardless of the duration of your stay. The hosts are very kind and hospitable, going out of their way to help us: We wish we could have stayed longer. It was definitely a highlight of our trip.
The farm was beautiful! The owner had all the most wonderful details laid out for us. We felt at home. She also gave us miso-making class that was amazing. We would definitely return.
Amazing hosts. Extremely friendly people. They'll help you understand the area and must sees. Highly recommended for Koyasan and exploring locally.
It’s a good location. It closes to a supermarket and it’s very convenient to shopping over there. The owner is also very nice, and is very kind to provide the help to the guest.
This place is stunning and spacious - it includes a gorgeous living room downstairs as well as the kitchen and bathroom. There is another seating area upstairs and the bedroom. It is also in the traditional Japanese style, which we love! The highlights for us though were two parts: First, the host is incredible! You cannot drive up to the house because the last road is too steep so he showed us where to park near the base and then drove us up in his bigger car. (He kindly did this again in the morning when we left, even though we had to leave very early!) Second, the view is incredible! It was a stunning way to start the day. Our only regret is we wish we'd stayed longer :)
They went out of their way to help me arrange for transit from the hotel.
It was right in the station very cute and quiet, everything you needed. The train tickets to the next station and breakfast very much appreciated. The ladies at the Station cafe were charming and friendly the food delicious!
Beautiful property, absolutely seamless handling of all of the details of our stay, and incredible cuisine. Starting with the room - it’s modern, airy, and sooooo comfortable. It also enormous - after spending our days in cramped hotel rooms in the city, getting to spread out and breathe was a massive luxury. It was a true oasis for us in the midst of a busy vacation - got some of the best sleep I’ve ever had. All of the products and items in the room are extremely high quality. I was especially taken with the hotel using Birkenstocks as the onsen sandals. The towels are some of the softest towels I’ve ever seen, and my partner and I both loved the lemongrass scented soap/shampoo/body wash - it smells expensive expensive. The rest of the property is beautiful without being too overstated - loved the fireplace in the dining room, and the gardens adjoining the guest room. Tons of free amenities on the property - they offer you welcome drinks at the bar, there’s free water/juice/beer everywhere you look. They offer you a ladyfinger in the room that I’m absolutely obsessed with. So many small touches that just make you feel comfortable and welcome. The staff and service are quietly exceptional - just truly on another level. At other high end ryokans the service can (to me) feel a little too effusive. Here the staff are always present but not overwhelming at all - they anticipate exactly what you need before you even have to ask. I’ve never felt so well-taken-care of, but at the same time, the whole experience felt completely effortless on their end. The service here really is the peak of hospitality for me - I’m used to a very (USA) West-Coast vibe, and a lot of high end service feels smothering to me. Not so at all here - just an absolutely perfect, seamless experience from start to finish. Finally the food. When you come to this hotel through the back roads of Wakayama, you notice the incredible natural bounty of this area.
Beautiful view So warm and friendly and helpful with directions etc. Exceptional really. Felt like home away from home.
Very pretty cabin 30 minutes west of Koya-san. Very clean and spacious. Kitchen is well equipped. Though we stayed end of March, it was still cold in the mountains and we needed to use the heater, which was already on when we arrived. We also started the wood burning oven - very atmospheric! Cabin was warm, but lots of heat escapes through the big window in the living room. There are extra blankets/ hoodies. Beds are super comfy! Owner has also a lot of information on how to use features of his property (wood burning stove, sauna, tubs etc.) and will provide plenty of information before you arrive about property ( in English ) and how to get there. Bring your own food / take out, since there are no stores/restaurants close by.
A great location, easy to find, and I was able to put my bicycle in the room
