Accommodations in Shingū

It was in a convenient location and the staff were extremely helpful and understanding.

Just between the station and the main shrines, post office (with atm) next door. Nice room with a bath.

For people traveling the kumano kodo, this accommodation is absolutely perfect. It is just at the end of the Kogumotori-goe and very close to the kowaze bus stop. The owner, who also runs a butchery offers dinner boxes, which is great after having a long day on the trail. Both the owner and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I was quite literally the first guest of the guesthouse, so the entire facility is/was brand-new renovated and exceptionally clean, I can't really comment on how it will look in future, but right now I couldn't possibly complain about the cleanliness. If you are searching for a comfortable accommodation after a long day on the trail, Kraft Base is an amazing and welcoming place. If and when I return to the kumano kodo I'll make sure to stay at Kraft Base again.

I like how the host is available for chats and recommendations. And there's laundry and konbinis at a walking distance. Also, a good place for those doing the Kumano Kudo.

Well located guesthouse, with easy self check-in process. The room was clean, the kitchen well organized, and the bathroom and shower also nice. I also enjoyed the free mikan :)

Such a lovely stay with the best okonomiyaki just down the road! Hospitality was amazing and even gave us some manju that they make in their shop to try!! Delicious! Perfect stay in a great location for the kumano kodo trail. Would definitely stay again!

Comfy soft mattress & great value. Only 2 rooms on the hostel so it feels like your own apartment.

Such a lovely place to stay! The host was so kind and took such wonderful care of me, I’m so glad I stayed here. It is 3 private bedrooms upstairs with shared downstairs, though I was the only one there for most of my stay. It was very peaceful. I recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance to be sure someone is there to let you in, as it can be difficult to contact them last minute (the host does not live there). Lawson is around the corner, and only a 10-15 minute walk to many restaurants. A great choice in Shingu!

The view, the kitchen, the comfort, the amenities… but mostly the thoughtfulness and generosity of the hosts. When we asked about calling a taxi because we didn’t have a car, they not only gave us a ride to the supermarket, but waited for us to shop, offered to take us to the train station for our trip to Nachi falls, and even took us to the train station when we checked out and arrived with gift bag in hand for our 6 year old. They were so so so sweet and generous and that house is just amazing. It’s exactly as pictured.

Host was incredibly welcoming and helpful. He searched and found information for us and even offered to help us make reservations for activities. We stayed here during the winter, but the place was warm and comfortable. It had everything we needed plus free condiments. We would love to stay here again!

This guesthouse was one of the best we stayed in. Very convenient to the bus and train station for an overnight stay. The staff was very helpful. We were able to do laundry and regroup after walking the Kumano Kodo. Since it was raining we were offered a ride to the train station which was very helpful and kind. We were able to walk to the Kumano Hayatama Taisha and the Tofuku Shrine.

Very surprised at the high quality and comfort of this facility. Huge bedroom with four beds, plenty of space. Second floor had a full kitchen, bathroom, dining room and sitting room. Yes, many extra rooms. Third floor roof had laundry machine and drying lines. Very spacious all around.
