Breña Baja is a good central location to stay on the island...
Breña Baja is a good central location to stay on the island of La Palma. Though the island is small, it takes quite a lot of time to visit different places due to the turning mountain roads. It is only just about 45 minutes to the viewpoint of the mirador de La Cumbrecita and about half an hour to the forest of los Tilos. Breña Baja also has a lovely beach and a spectacular view of the sea. The photos are not from Breña Baja but from the mirador de La Cumbrecita and the Los Tilos forest, as our main activity in La Palma was hiking.

The area is good as a base to visit the Island as it is close to the airport and harbour, well conected and easy to find park space. It has restaurants and supermarkets nearby and two beaches. There is a nice sidewalk by the sea, although is the most touristic area of La Palma is quiet at night.

Absolutely amazing location.
Absolutely amazing location. Beautiful views, quiet yet only few minutes drive to local shops and restaurants.
The host was very friendly and accommodating with requests. We were delayed for 2 hours on arrival and it was no problem. Locked myself out of safe and it was rectified very quickly by the host. Thank you so much.

San Antonio is a quiet and peaceful place, perfect for those who enjoy a more tranquil atmosphere. While it’s not a typical tourist hotspot, its proximity to Los Cancajos and Santa Cruz de la Palma makes it an excellent base for exploring the island.
The roads are well-maintained, making it easy to get around by car, and the public transport is also very reliable and well-organized. Multiple bus stops and lines are within walking distance. You’ll find a wide range of facilities and amenities just a short drive or bus ride away, including restaurants, shops, and beaches.
It offers the best of both worlds—a serene environment to relax in, with everything you need conveniently close by. Highly recommended for travelers looking for a calm yet well-connected location.

Pleasant area, well located.
Pleasant area, well located. It has nice restaurants and some sights. Close to the capital so it has easy access. Roads are narrow, crooked, everywhere. There is not one stretch of straight road of more than 20 meters in the whole island, so driving can get a bit tiring.

Friendly personal during breaktfest time and at the pool bar.
Large pool with planty of free pool beds, as most guests are out for walking tracks and very well preserved pool water.
Close distance to the beach.

I liked the spacious house and the friendly host, Ramon. The garden and surroundings, in general, are botanically attractive.
The price of our stay was reasonable. That is why the only weakness, limited warm water in the bathrooms, did not bother us.
We ate in restaurants in the places we visited by car.

Hiking is our thing and La Palma offers hundreds of kilometres of well signed and maintained hiking trails.
The mountain regions are very steep and remote walking poles , food and water essential for solo trips.
Brena Baja is more gentle and stunning all year round, though the springtime flowers are the best 🌻👀👍🏻
Los Cancajos or Santa Cruz are convenient bases for catching buses all over the island so you can do circular or linear (bus to bus) hikes.

Los Cancajos is a small beach resort just 5km from the airport and 9km from the historic capital of Santa Cruz de La Palma.
There are three beaches which adjoin each other so you can try out each one or even swim/snorkel between them.
There is a good choice of excellent restaurants and a regular bus service.
It's also an ideal place from which to explore the rest of La Palma as it is located midway along the east coast and with quick access to roads heading north, south and across to the wes.
I highly recommend it.

Mazo is a nice little village.
Mazo is a nice little village. Very green with fantastic views. Has a spar supermarket and a few bars and restaurants. You will need a car if staying here. It is also hilly so not good for people with walking disabilities
