Very small town- literally the length of the runway. Airport busiest on Thursdays. Not a whole lot to do at the town site- it's really just a touchdown spot for tourists to land and then go on their adventures from. Grocery store is small. Airport cafeteria has good food. If you're heading out on the ACT I recommend taking a cab closer to the trail head or just to the trail head- saves your feet on pavement hills. 23Km to the Polar Ice Cap. Definitely can't see the ocean from here.
I stopped at Kangerlussuaq only because the connecting flight is next day. Hostel Old Camp is very nice to pick me up at the airport and take me to the Hostel. However, once I arrived at Old Camp, I was trapped. Because of the flight delayed, all the local sightseeing programs were closed at around 2:00pm. I didn't know and wasn't told that there is a local bus running from Old Camp to airport and only found out when the last bus passed me by right in front of me at around 6:00pm. But even if I know the bus, there is nothing to see there at Kangerlussuaq.
