I loved the remoteness but was only a 15 minute drive to...
I loved the remoteness but was only a 15 minute drive to Hofn for shopping, restaurants, etc. We enjoyed the extreme natural beauty and spent a day kayakibng among the icebergs and hiking a glacier. Even though we had to travel an hour or so to the glacier hike, it was worth it. The ride itself was filled with spectacular scenery.

Hofn was a nice small town, very walkable, great places to eat, Netto grocery store, local walking trails, and easy accessibility as home base for Vatnajokull National Park and Stokksnes Beach. We especially enjoyed Ljosdis Bakery, Heppe/Horn Brewery, Pakkhus (amazing meal!), Ishusid Pizzeria (nutella calzone dessert!)

This is the worst stay of our 9 days Iceland trips with 7...
This is the worst stay of our 9 days Iceland trips with 7 different accommodations, but had the highest per night cost. The WIFI is not working, and the remote locations made all our phones either had very weak or no signals. We bought two different eSims and also bought our own carrier's global access package, we built the redundance, but this location just had no signals. Therefore, the non-working WIFI has greatly impacted our next day trip, and we cannot even initiate the google maps from saved map links. Everything else is very basic, not come close to other 6 accommodations. We got two rooms, possibly at the same rate, but one room was so small and my kids left their luggage in my room to just be able to walk to their bed. The room can be locked, but the key is attached to a big piece of wood of 5" square and 1" thick. Very inconvenient to carry the key. No dish washer and no cloth washer, all 6 other properties had these basic features. I do not recommend this property.

Despite the fact that I was hoping to stay in Hofn, I really enjoyed the rural setting of Holmur and the magnificent scenery that was the backdrop to the guesthouse. Moreover, it was quite easy to find and was not very far from the main highway. The breakfast/dining room was spacious and bright and enabled more enjoyment of the spectacular views whilst dining.

Luxus cabin, good beds, cozy interiør and well heated. Fantastic view to Brunnhorn ( Batman mountain) landscape. My best stay during this trip. Very helpful, warm and professionel host. Breakfast in the mainhouse was homemade and tasty.

The waters and views of the glaciers viewed from a far are beautiful. Also some of the little food places reflect the cosiness of a working port. Quaint working port village. Worth a stop or basing yourself there to visit the surrounding geography.

Room okay for one night but unfortunately a little overpriced. The buffet style breakfast is very basic and offers little to none options for dietary needs.
The sound from adjacent rooms is quite audible due to the house's age and poor acoustics.
Nice views and surroundings though.

We enjoyed the cabin we stayed in.
We enjoyed the cabin we stayed in. The bedding was very nice and the kitchen perfectly stocked with dishes. The playground was fun. The office sells some camping supplies. There are not enough showers, only one for each gender. The kitchen/cooking area is bare bones. There are some nice tables inside. The staff was very helpful and kind.
