AC Hotel by Marriott Kingston, Jamaica has an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, a shared lounge and terrace in Kingston. This 4-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk and a business center. The first day I had it wasn't too good I had literally no salt fish with my ackee.
That apartment is so old and outdated it's not even funny. The towels are old/and ragged the room is extremely hot the tv is old everything about this was just a nightmare. Believe me I have prove I have photos but I just won't post them. This owner needs to put her customers first not just the money. After I got there someone collected the money and I never see or heard of them again not even to ask a question I didn't even get my receipt until a day before I leave.
The AC did not have the option of controlling it meaning to turn up of down. The TV Chancels we’re very bad not many options.. The Food were good but very expensive. The payment parking is too expensive I don’t think a paying guest should pay so much for parking per day..
Art Galleries, lavish restaurants and international food courts cater to every palate. Devon House is fantastic. Emancipation Park and Hope Gardens a nice surprise. Dining is exciting and fabulous in Sovereign Center Mall area along Barbican Road, in the Liguanea area, Constant Spring Road, New Kingston, and the ROK downtown by the Kingston Harbour waterfront. Many exotic places provide a fabulous top class and tasty experience. Try a Sunday Brunch at any of the many hotels within close range in New Kingston. You will be pleasantly surprised at the grand display of choices usually plated but all you can eat plate after plate of assortments. There is also local theatre, and disco clubs. If you like mountain climbing there are tours to the Blue Mountain, and you can plan to picnic there. There will definitely be more to enjoy than you have time for during your Jamaica vacation and this is just Kingston, the capital city. No, it is not a violent city! You only need to be as mindful as you would be in any big city. There is also rootsy mountain top dining and entertainment, and of course Port Royal Yacht club or Morgan's Harbour a few miles away from the center closer to the airport. Great sea food and formal and informal dining for folks who like to stay close to the sea. Jamaicans love to party. Book several months in advance of Easter if you love the carnival street parades, pre and post-carnival parties! Hotels are usually booked up during this time. The Terra Nova Hotel is a great choice for Carnival Season. You must plan for heavy traffic. Always bumper to bumper unless you know a local person, family, friend or relative who know the short cuts off the main roads.
Everyone was friendly, no pressure buying, people always willing to point us in the right direction, where we stayed was central to shops and attractions ie Bob Marley Museum, Devon House, Emancipation Park Half way Tree. and more
New Kingston was surprisingly beautiful, safe, clean and modern! Don’t let anyone fool you, it’s a beautiful place to be. I loved every minute of walking around by myself as a female tourist. I ate at Sweetwood Jerk Joint and Island Grill, and even tried the local Starbucks. I had a rental car with Google GPS so everything was very easy to find. I hung out in Emancipation Park until 10pm, which was serene and safe with lots of security and police around.
I spent 10 days there and in my view Kingston is not for tourists. If you want to do something your options are very limited. I tried to find some tours but at the end all i did is went to Bob Marley museum. I think all tourist things are around Montigo bay but Montigo bay is 3 hours away from Kingston so I decided not to spend 6 hours traveling only to have few hours at montigo bay. When abroad I walk a lot but walking is not pleasant there. Aside humidity and heat everything look dirty. Traffic is terrible and you need to have skill to cross the road. Another thing is security. This is one of the rare places where I did not feel safe enough to go out and/or walk at night time. I stayed in New Kingston and walked all the way to down town. I did not enjoy it or saw anything that i felt - that's nice, lets take a photo.
