It's a little unusual to stay in a more traditional setting with tatamis and futon - but everything else is modern. The room is sufficiently spacious, the kitchen and bath are modern. It's next to the main road of the small town - but my earplugs were able to tune out almost all of the traffic (it's not comparable to a main road in Osaka).

Offering free bikes and a bar, AJITO Hostel & CafeBar in Shingū is close to Shingu Castle Ruins Park and Kumano Hayatama Taisha.

Home is a visual treat both outside and inside. Wonderful amenities to include making your own shaved ice. Laundry is available, and you can purchase laundry detergent and a cup of noodles if needed. The room I had was comfortable, spacious, and you were able to keep it whatever temperature you'd like and even control the humidity. The location is wonderful whether you want to go to katsura or stay in shingu. It is within 150 M of a bus stop and a 5-minute walk to the main bus station and the rail lines. You can get to other main train and bus stations, visit hayatama taisha, which is 1 minute away, take the boat tours, get to nachi. You don't need to pay tourist prices on the main street or katsura. I absolutely loved this place and helpful people. It is,a great value for a solo traveler or a family.

The location was close to Shingu Station and put my sister and I in the perfect position to explore Nachi Falls the following day. We did self check-in quite late, and the process was quite smooth and easy. Though we never met the host in person, interacting with them through messages was quite pleasant. The space was both well-appointed and well-utilized. There were many amenities provided for us like toothbrushes, tea, earplugs, and so on. These earplugs proved to be useful because the apartment is located in an area with a lot of bars and karaoke places. People walking by can be noisy but it was no problem for me (I'm a heavy sleeper). My sister had a little more trouble, but nothing terrible. We only stayed for 1 night, but it was very comfortable, and I liked the privacy that having a full apartment afforded us.

Piko is the most hospitable guest house I have ever visited. Yuki San came to take me from the station as I arrived late. She is the sweetest person. Moreover, I had unforgetable time in Yuki's San Izakaya where her mother, former geisha, played taiko and we had lovely karaoke all together. Do not miss out on such oportunity and come to Pico! I should also mention that it is very conveniently located near key attractions and my dear host gave me recommendations for shops and antiques. The flat is spacious and you will have everything you need.
