Sono and yuri were fantastic and made sure we were very comfortable. We booked an extra night cause we loved it so much. I recommend renting a car as it’s difficult to explore the area without one. Highly recommend.

We stayed for 2 nights at Hokkoma cottage and loved our stay. The property itself was wonderful, had everything we needed and felt like home. Our trip was focused on taking advantage of Aso's beautiful nature and the cottage's location allowed us to do this. It was also great to know that there was a large bath to use after the hike to soak our tired legs!

While keeping the original feel of a classical, Japanese house, Okawachiyama LODGE is decorated with comfort, jazz, and eclectic taste. Each chair and sofa has its own unique niche. It's homely, nostalgic, restful, and unique. The owner could not have been more kind. He was there to receive us, help with our bags, and give us some pointers on where to roam in the valley.
