The property was so special - its location amongst the forest trees covered in snow, the design of the property and its amenities were all amazing. Sitting in the onsen whilst it snowed outside will be a memory for life. The concierge team were so helpful organizing restaurant bookings, ski lessons, hire cars and shifting our ski gear around Japan.

We loved the incredibly delicious food (dinner and breakfast) and the great hospitality of the owner and his wife. Our room was pretty large and had all amenities you need, except an ensuite bathroom. The shared bathroom is clean, large and comfortable with showers and an onsen! If you're lucky you have the bathroom for yourself. Although we had a rental car we stayed nearby the pension to avoid the load of tourists on e.g. the Magome- Tsumago trail. Kaida is a pretty village from where you can hike. The waterfalls trail loop on the way to mount Ontake is beautiful and tranquil as is the whole area around mount Ontake. It's easy to spend 4 days at Kaoru!

Le Bocage – Hakuba Echoland Chalets are situated in Echoland, a popular nightlife site where more than 30 bars and restaurants can be found. The property offers free in-room WiFi and on-site parking. We had a great few days staying in the chalet. It was quiet, clean, and conveniently located to access various hikes/trailheads, restaurants, supermarkets and other sites. The two bathrooms (one on each floor) were handy and we loved having the washer/dryer. The kitchen had everything you need for cooking, including oil, salt and pepper. The fridge/freezer was large. We liked the keyless entry system. Finally, staff were very responsive and helped us ship our luggage with Yamato to our next destination.

The owner is so friendly and the atmosphere is so good. Breakfast is included and very delicious. Although it’s not that close to the JR Station, there are a lot of restaurants nearby. We will definitely come back.

The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

A 10-minute drive from Hakuba Happo-One Winter Ski Resort, Pension Tomato offers spacious Western-style rooms with a loft area. Our visit to Tomato was absolutely incredible! The staff was extremely friendly and service-oriented, making our stay exceptional. The atmosphere was cozy, and we truly felt welcomed. The accommodation was one of the best we have ever experienced. Especially noteworthy is the fantastic onsen, which was truly the cherry on top. A genuine gem among hotel experiences!
