Beechworth is a fascinating town, at first glance it's like walking onto a movie set as the buildings all seem to be 1800's original. If I'd seen a horse and cart roll past, I would have felt like I'd stepped back in time. It has so much history including early days of Ned Kelly and the Gold Rush. It also has the best bakery worth the drive for an Apple Turnover. The handful of original pubs are well worth a drop in especially the Hotel Nicholas with walls full of 1800's photos and history complete with an original stage! We did a ghost tour of the old Asylum and a tour of the goal which were both interesting. Bright is only a 50-minute drive away which is also worth visiting for its tree lined streets. Beechworth Honey is also worth a visit. Can't wait to get back!

Just loved this town.
Just loved this town. An absolute classic. It was a gold mining town and you can see the wealth it had in the beautiful buildings. Also there is lots of bushranger history there including Ned Kelly. Beechworth Bakery is a must. Empire Hotel would be wonderful in winter with the fires on.

Visit Pennyweight Winery and then Beechworth Honey.
Visit Pennyweight Winery and then Beechworth Honey. Guided tour of the history of Beechworth and the Court House. Eat at the Hotel Nicholas, Commerical Hotel and definitely the pick of the three was the Ox and Hound Bistro. All shop owners were friendly and have a beesting/sandwiches from the Beechworth bakery.

We have been to Beechworth multiple times.
We have been to Beechworth multiple times. It's a very nice town with a lot of historical features. Plenty of different things to do. From walking, to eating out, bike riding, visiting wineries and breweries as well as a whole set of other activities you can get from the visitor's information office. The information we received was perfect and even though we couldn't do everything we'd certainly come back to do more.

A beautifully historic township with many things to see and do... Hidden away at the foot if the mountains, this is a little gem... Lots of eateries and a good supermarket. The goal tour was very interesting and informative... You can wander the main streets, have a coffee and cake in the Beechworth Bakery... Visit the site of Mayday Hills Asylum and Lake Sambell... Easy drive to many of the surrounding areas... Loved it... Only downside was a disappointing meal at the Tanswells Hotel...

Beechworth is an historic gold mining town. It is full of beautiful old buildings from the era and is just dripping with history. There are loads of extremely high quality food and wine establishments that would rival some of the best in the capital cities. And there is so much to see and explore.

We loved the location, building and surroundings. It is stocked with tea, coffee, milo, milk, breakfast cereals and juice. The shared living area is quite spacious. The beds are small and firm but quite comfortable. There are extra blankets in each room. The rooms and hallways are delightful and timeless. The shared building spaces are light and airy. It’s a great location from which to explore Beechworth. The Saturday market is a not to be missed experience. Check in and out is easy.

If it had been hot the outdoor pool area was very inviting. The bed was exceptional with beautiful linen making sleeping a joy.
