Taking a trip on the 'talking tram' was an experience and I recommend it to everyone visiting Bendigo. Another must is the gold mine in the centre of the city. It was certainly an experience worth taking and well worth the small financial cost. I suggest visiter's simply drive along the main street called High Street and look left and right and you'll be amazed by the features in this wonderful city. As for food, there is ample take away business's along with many pubs, hotels and restaurants. Another spot to visit is the Chinese Dragon Museum off High Street. I suggest the 'information centre' be visited for advice on where to go and what to do.
There is so much to see and do in Bendigo, but we were on limited time. We would like to come back and stay longer. We went to an exhibition at the Art Gallery. we ate at Sim,R, The Shamrock Hotel and Percy Percy - all eateries were excellent.
It was our first trip to Bendigo and we were not disappointed. Mine tour, talking tram, Chinese Joss House, Golden Dragon Museum, Discovery Centre were definitely highlights. Bendigo has a nice comfortable feel of a small city but still lots of conveniences like well-stocked supermarkets. The old gold-rush era buildings were photographic highlights too. For both nights we had dinners at local pubs and ate well. People were friendly everywhere. Overall we had a lovely time and would like to visit again and would recommend Bendigo to other visitors.
The Cathedral was amazing. The Chinese Museum a "must See"!! We had stunning views from the Shamrock Hotel's sunny balcony of the park opposite as well as the beautiful heritage buildings. All the locals we met were friendly and more than helpful Rob Hadfield's Hot Rod Museum nearby was incredible as is the man himself!!!! The Green Bean cafe served delicious meals and good coffee We enjoyed the meals at the Shamrock Hotel The staff were lovely The bats in the trees
Lots of fun things for kids to do. The Central Deborah Gold Mine tour down to level 2 is a must. The museum on site was interesting. Gold panning was fun, until we found a red worm swimming in the water. The miner’s pie is a must try. We purposely went back the next day for lunch, it was that good. Confectionary capers is a place you won’t see anywhere else, I think. My 3 yo loved this place. She kept repeating the words ‘this is so much fun!’. The Discovery and Science Centre has a few shows on, including a slide guests can try at certain time intervals. All of the shows and slide times are staggered after each other to ensure guests don’t miss out. The Botanical Gardens Hotel is a lovely family friendly Restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here.
Loved the old buildings that have all been well preserved and cared for. Fantastic places to eat. Beautiful parks . Loved our visit to central Debra mine. Stayed in lovely air B and Bs did glamping at Local winery, visited the beautiful cathedral. Ate at and would recommend The Corner Store,Percy and Percy, the Brew House, Bendigo dumpling house, The Boardwalk cafe, and Borchellis Italian restaurant.
The girl on reception when we arrived on Easter Saturday (sorry I didn’t get her name) was exceptional! She not only appeared to be enjoying working on a public holiday but was more than her, even calling me when it was close to closing time. 10 out of 10.

Great motel ,short walk into Bendigo .Friendly and helpful staff and very informative. Beech Worth Bakery opp for breakfast as is a Hotel for meals ,also next to Central Debora Gold Mine and beginning of the Bendigo Tram .
Friendliness, the little extras like a bucket and rag (the motel is popular with people attending the Bendigo Hospital), the biggest bath sheets ever, the prices of breakfasts and beverages.
Nice comfortable hotel room with everything we needed close by. Better than expected for a room at a pub. The staff were friendly and the meals were very good.
Great hotel. Some of it still getting built atm but didn’t fuss me at all. Has a pool and a spa. I travel to Bendigo for work and will stay here every time.
