The best activity in Coles Bay is the Wineglass Bay Cruise. We had a wonderful day out, nice lunch, great host and managed to see dolphins, seals and a humpback whale. They even lengthened our trip so we could see the whale. Loved it
We had planned to spend time at the beach, and had also booked in for kayaking and a scenic flight. The weather turned bad so we had to cancel all of these things which was a shame. We did the hike to wineglass bay and although it was mostly fogged out it was still beautiful. If the sun had been shining Im sure we would have wanted to stay longer in this spot its a beautiful part of Tassie.
We have been here before. Beautiful beaches abound and nice walks. But this time we decided to take the cruise into wineglass bay. Not a good plan. The sea was a bit choppy and the whole family got sick!. Definitely not doing any cruise any time soon. Sceneries were magic though. Would love to stay longer for walks and beaches. Oh we found a great place for pizzas.
Coles Bay is a great place to visit with its amazing walks and scenery. Pennicott Wine Glass Bay boat cruise is a fantastic trip! walking to Wine Glass Bay is a must to experience the unique granite mountains and formations, the wild life and magnificent views and bush. Also the beautiful granite sand on Wine glass bay and the many other beaches. The light house is a brilliant place for a magestic view into WIne Glass Bay and out into the Ocean. If you are lucky you can see whales from this lookout and there are stationary binoculars to look through. There are many other walks which are all amazing. Pack your gear and go!
Recommend in a heartbeat just beautiful scenery and plenty of activities the boat cruise to wineglass bay is something I’ll never forget very informative awesome crew just fantastic thank you coles bay
I've been to Coles Bay many times as I'm a Tasmanian! Every time you drive towards the Hazards you know you are in a special place. It's beautiful in all kinds of weather and the Hazard mountains are stunning. This time we did the Freycinet Wilderness tour, and we were not disappointed, we saw seals, dolphins, whales, and sea eagles. Walking to the lookout, which has been upgraded, is always a highlight. Highly recommended.
Coles Bay
We were very pleased with the property. It was very clean and well maintained. We found the bed and sitting areas comfortable. We had sufficient kitchenware for cooking. We really appreciated the washer and dryer. It’s very convenient to Freycinet National Park and the dock for the Wineglass Bay Cruise. Would happily stay here again. Note: there are 4 steps leading from the dining area where you enter to the main living area. There are no railings. This might be something of concern if you have mobility issues.
Coles Bay
The most beautiful apartment, with superb views over Coles Bay. Very stylishly furnished. Well equipped for general living & entertaining. Huge balcony with BBQ. Comfortable king bed. Only stayed 2 nights, but could easily have stayed longer. Good pub & restaurant nearby, but recommend booking for meals, as very busy. Recommend the Wineglass Bay cruise with lunch - jetty where catch the catamaran only 5 mins walk away.
Coles Bay
Beautiful location in the national park. The staff were very friendly both at reception and in the restaurants. We stayed in cabin 7 and it was perfect, close to the main building but very quite. Our bed and room facilities including a spa bath were very good and super clean. We had a view through the trees to the water which was lovely! I would certainly recommend Freycinet Lodge and would love to come back.
Coles Bay
Our room was very nice. Bed was comfortable and plenty of space for 2 people. Location is good, with Coles Bay being a short drive up the road and Freycinet National Park a bit further on. Nice views from room although they are blocked a bit by a few trees growing outside the block of rooms we stayed in.
Coles Bay

close to the beach and local (small) shops for dinner and incidental needs like bread and milk. Playground for the kids and BBQ facilities. Highly recommend watching the sunset from the Bay. "Geographie" in Coles Bay is great for a meal but you must book
Nice, modern home in a fantastic waterfront location in Coles Bay. The house is very comfortable and well-equipped - the pool table was a nice touch! The whole place was spotlessly clean as well. We'll be back in winter to take advantage of the fireplace.
