I was on a bit of a schedule however next time back in the area I would stay longer, the winter months are the best time to visit the area, meals for me were a mix of self catered or eating local, without doubt I would more closely research the area via internet

Mount Surprise is a great place to stay to visit the Undara Volcanic Lava Tunnels. Definitely recommend visiting the tunnels. There is not many services in the area so be prepared before you arrive with food.
