One of the oldest town in NSW. We went to the Information Center and did the discovery walk in the town and we could understand a bit the heritage of this place. Wines are quite unique in Orange. Really good restaurants...don't forget to book in advance.
orange is a lovely town , good for food and wine adventure or just walking the beautiful treelined streets. it's also makes a great base to explore the other regions from. although winter has low temperatures, I didn't find it unpleasant , would recommend a visit all year round.
Truly Orange is the food basket of NSW. Excellent wineries and excellent food! The restaurants are also staffed quite well despite COVID issues. Bookings are essential. As with any country town, having your own car is important to get around the surrounding wineries and hikes. If coming in winter, make sure to rug up. It was quite cold!
Mr Lim Korean Chinese fusion- best meal I have ever eaten. The main street of Orange is full of lovely old buildings, and is lit up with strings of fairy lights. Plenty of shops and shopping centres. Great op shops. Lovely people. We didn't have time to get out in the countryside but what we drove through was beautiful.
We stayed two nights as part of a road trip and it rained heavily for most of it. We still had a great day at the local art gallery, museum and library, which were all in the same complex. All 3 were very kid friendly, with activities to participate in for our 6 & 11 year olds. The day we were due to leave was dry so we visited the botanical gardens and the adventure playground nearby. Again, we enjoyed both. It's a shame we visited on the one day (Monday) that the cafe was closed as we would loved to have popped in for some hot drinks and cakes.
Sometimes after travelling & exploring all day, it would be nice to find a cafe still open for a coffee & mid afternoon cake, having brunch about 10.30am, a coffee around 3.30pm is impossible to find, except disappointingly only for maccas not the country vibe I had in mind. However, Orange certainly has something for everyone, it’s charming tree lined wide streets, fairy lit main drag at night, with scenic rolling hills, valleys & country byways to meander along.
Orange
Friendly staff assisted us with operation of the TV. In the morning we were in a hurry to travel, and In our hurry, a pair of prescription eyeglasses were left behind in our room. By the time we missed the glasses we had travelled far from Orange. When we phoned back to the hotel office, we were greeted by the manager who already had our glasses in hand. He also had our home address and offered to post them to us. This friendly help was most welcome, and the glasses arrived in perfect condition.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the main street, restaurants, shops and wine bars. The staff could not have been more friendly and professional. Thank you to Jo for calling me to confirm my early check in. I didn't expect it and it was a great touch. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and the Covid hygiene controls throughout the property very efficient. We really enjoyed our time here and will stay here again next time we come to Orange.

We booked de Russie Hotel as it was the only property left on Booking.com! I'm not sure why as it was amazing value in a fantastic location. The rooms are lovely and extremely clean with a full service every day. Light breakfast bag is provided and was fun to sift through looking for goodies. Apartment is an easy walk to the main street and restaurants, cafes etc. We will definitely be back to de Russie next time we visit Orange.
The rooms were clean and beautifully furnished. The bathroom was very modern and we loved the Apelles toiletries. Breakfast was fantastic. We all loved the hot menu choices. The concierge was very helpful in pointing out some popular places of interest around Orange that we ended up visiting.

Walking distance to town. A very new building so everyone is like new and shiny! Probably the nicest apartment I ever stayed in- especially as we had a pet. We’re used to being put in crappy accommodation when we bring our small dog with us but this place was a proper hotel
