Orange was a very pleasant weekend destination. We arrived Friday lunchtime and stayed 2 nights. We visited the local villages of Lucknow, where we had lunch at the Gin/whisky distillery, and Millthorpe, where we explored the little shops and antique village. The shopping in Orange was very nice with little one off boutiques and different stock than what we buy in the bigger cities. Would highly recommend Orange as a lovely weekend/long weekend getaway from Canberra or Sydney.

We had never been to Orange but found the city and surrounds to be an excellent place to stay and experience things on a number of levels. Sold as a place to visit wineries and for food there's a lot more to do. Nice bushwalking, an excellent arts centre and so on (we only had 48 hours in Orange so were limited in what we were able to do). Some nice city parks as well

Orange is fabulous location for food and wine tours.
Orange is fabulous location for food and wine tours.
Relativley close to Sydney and only 3-4hours drive.
Although chilly in the winter, every venue seems to have the mmost welcoming fires or cosy rooms.
Great location for a brief get away and host some great talent and art exhibtions.

Orange is a lovely country town with lots of historical and architecturally interesting buildings and the faint smell of 'old money'. Beautiful in autumn. Lots of pub and restaurant options, wineries etc. Duntryleague is a wonderful golf course if you can get on.

Orange has lovely wineries & a good range of cafes/restaurants. Breakfast at Byng Street cafe is a must as is a casual meal at the Agristic Grocer. Lovely country vistas & friendly people as well as interesting shops.
Arden on McLachlan is a charming period cottage in one of the older parts of Orange. It's comfortable, spacious and was very clean. The kitchen is very well stocked with cooking implements and the central heating works beautifully on a cold and wintry night. There's a terrific cafe just up the road that does really good coffee and cakes (Bill's) and it's an enjoyable 15 minute walk to the centre of Orange with it's great range of cafes, restaurants and boutiques etc.
The staff were very accomodating, allowing us to check in earlier as we had wedding to attend. The room was wonderful, could not fault a thing, comfy bed, hot shower, coffee and tea facility, microwave, plenty of room in the room and lots of hanging space. Then there was the breakfast buffet, omg I felt like I was overseas again. Will definitely be recommending this hotel to anyone visiting Orange.
Our apartment was clean, comfortable and well appointed set in a convenient location for all that we wanted to do in Orange. We were welcomed warmly and very well cared for by Cameron who answered our questions and made sure we were settled well. He gave us excellent information about the places to have a meal in town.
