Set on the Paynesville canals on the Gippsland Lakes, Captains Cove Waterfront Apartments offers an indoor heated pool, a tennis court, basketball ring, private jetties and water activities. Everything from beginning to end was smooth flow. Staff was always ready to provide useful info. But the icing on the cake was having the boat jetty right in front of the unit. We stayed 5 nights and every day was some place to go using Captains Cove as a base: water, islands, 4WD driving, or just watching the music festival on the water, from the water. The way the units are set up could easily accommodate anything between a couple to a group of friends (3 bedrooms, 2bathrooms on 2 floors).

Paynesville is a place that has something for everyone. Eateries to suit most people. Saturday market was very enjoyable, stall holders very friendly. Found shop holders very friendly full of information regarding best places to visit. Local people very accomodating, proud of their community. Friendliest place I have been to in a long time.
The accomodation was very comfortable, the bed was excellent and the spa bath was a nice bonus. The cooking facilities were basic but workable for prepare basic meals or bbq. We enjoyed using the pool and spa area. Feeding the birds and kangaroos was a treat.
My first visit to Paynesville and I wasn't disappointed. Lots to do and see. A beautiful spot on the Gippsland Lakes. Spent a day on Raymond Island Koala spotting which was divine. Also saw kangaroos, echidnas, ducks, swans, rosellas - an Australian native animal haven. Lunch at Sardine Cantina was so, so delicious and the staff super friendly and helpful. Dinner at Pier 70 was also memorable with delicious food and great service. Cannot wait to visit again!
Paynesville is the perfect get away destination. Plenty to do to be active if that is what you are looking for... fishing boating or just enjoying the lakes and the fantastic environment. Or the perfect place to withdraw from the world and just rest and relax Great restaurants
A lovely spot to visit and spend some relaxing hours exploring Raymond Island. Although we went during January, the weather turned out to be much cooler than expected, but apart from being unprepared for the unexpected cooler weather, its a great place for a get away. Beaches on Raymond Island were stunning and very private. One would need to take their car across to Raymond Island if they want to explore the beaches around the island as not within walking distances. Spotting Koala's while wandering around Raymond Island was a thrill, for both adults and children alike.
After wandering around this lovely little town, we explored the foreshore and followed the water around various bends of the lake. It was all very pretty and we were lucky with the weather for July, as it was very cold but sunny and dry. We went across to Raymond Island on the ferry, which was free for those passengers on foot. The teenagers travelling with us then delighted in searching every tree for koalas. And it was terrific that we were able to see/photograph so many, and some of them were up quite close.

We all enjoyed our stay at Dolf Inn. It is a spacious well laid out house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms which is what we were looking for. Pet friendly was also a requirement. The property was clean and we appreciated that the heating had been turned on for us prior to our arrival on a chilly day. Managing Healesville Getaway myself I know how much work there is in maintaining and ensuring that the property is clean and presentable for guests. We would definitely stay again.
We enjoyed our stay at Kings Cottage it was a nice clean and comfortable house with a good fenced yard to keep the dog in also good communication with the owners. It was a nice quiet area with a short drive to the shops and the beautiful waters of Paynesville which my husband and l fell in love with so we will definitely be going back again.
Hosts Will and Amy were welcoming and helpful. Apartment was spacious and modern, with great kitchen and living areas. Rooms were comfortable. Very handy having Netflix and YouTube available on the TV. Paynesville is more picturesque and peaceful to stay at than Bairnsdale, but is only 15 mins away if needed. Happy to come back again.
An Absolute Gem, Amazing value for money and how can you go wrong with waterfront, boat mooring, and a 2 minute walk to the shopping strip. Best in Paynesville without Doubt. MOdern Kitchen, lots of lounging space, and comfortable beds. Great place.
Beautiful surroundings, peaceful and quiet. Great location close to Paynesville. Friendly staff and friendly wildlife. Good accommodation for the price. Drinking water provided at accommodation.
We had a great stay, well located in Paynesville and we were able to moor our boat at the jetty for our entire stay. Pool area was clean and bathroom was well equipped with toiletries.
Lovely spot just outside of Paynesville. Mini kitchen, bbq for nights in. Sparkling clean & comfortable. Great hosts to help with tips for the area.
We had a very comfortable stay in Paynesville and the whole atmosphere was very friendly.
It is pet friendly.
Canal frontage with jetty sums up the location and view. The host was really thoughtful. A loaf of bread and 1L of fresh milk were left for us. The kitchen is so well equipped. It has every thing you practically have in your own kitchen, including the cocktail making utensils. Without doubt it’s my favourite accommodation.
The breakfast was excellent and the views superb and the house was really excellent. The people who look after it at the rental place were very friendly and most helpful and I would thoroughly recommend this property as a place to stay.
