We were there for the last night of the Winds of Zenadth Festival. That was a fantastic event. The people were ver friendly and the food was delicious. The ferry runs regularly to Horn Island and everything is in walking distance.

The many walks especially along the waterfront & beaches,...

The many walks especially along the waterfront & beaches, the natural beauty, the clean air free of pollution, the boats, the sea breeze, salt air, smell of the ocean, the view of all the surrounding islands & Cape York from Green Hill & the shipping channels. The Museum was very interesting but time allocated by tour company was too short. Buffet breakfast was very good @ the Grand, seafood lunch @ the Torres was enormous, fish very fresh. Getting around the island was very easy as most things were within easy walking distance & taxis were very handy for locations further afield. Several families took their children to play on the beaches, walk their dogs or play in Anzac Park. More pride in the general cleanliness of gutters, drains & beaches eg removal of broken glass, plastic bottles & other refuse from drains & gutters & some public garden beds.

Local people very friendly & welcoming, always willing to impart knowledge of traditions, culture & local environment. However, more effort could be invested in pride of cleanliness of beaches, drainage system, private properties eg. removal of abandoned vehicles, disposal of damaged assets, general upkeep of private & public spaces. Favourite places were Gab Titui Cultural Centre, waterfront & lookout locations. Ate @ hotels, easy to get around & wonderful family activities included picnic spots on waterfront, local sporting complex, camping & fishing.

The sunset and sunrise from Green Fort ... a highlight.

The sunset and sunrise from Green Fort ... a highlight. Dawn Service spectacular. Challenging to organise trips as reliant on numbers. Friday Island was a highlight. Would be easier with a group as water taxis would be viable. Difficult to source fresh fish if not fishing yourself. Crayfish are a must from near the far jetty. The cemetery is a history lesson and very moving. Island is very beautiful.
