A tasteful mix of the very old and the very modern. The old city is beautiful and fascinating. The open spaces and water features very attractive. Historical sites are easily accessible a well looked after. Some require a bit of a climb so be prepared for that. The restaurants are varied and the food we tried all good. Some of the waiting staff need a little more training such as asking if you're finished with a dish or a drink before removing it! Plovdiv is a beautiful place and full of great people and wonderful places to visit. The only issue I found is not many people speak English especially the older generation. An interesting city with lots of history. Most of what tourists would like to see is contained within a relatively small area, but be warned there is a bit of climbing. All the main attractions are within a 5-minute walk. The restaurant area is separate and the noise from there does not reach the accommodation, so you sleep in peace and quiet. Breakfast is simple and tasty, good coffee. The reception is on a level of its own, but let it be a pleasant surprise. This is not a 5-star hotel, but for this price there is plenty of experience. It was easy to walk to everywhere, as well as into the Kapana district. The staff at the hotel were wonderful - so friendly and helpful. On arrival they had upgraded one of our rooms so that we could have adjacent rooms. So thoughtful. Parking is easy and very close to the hotel.
