Located in Trigrad, 1.4 mi from Devil's Throat Cave, Horlog Castle provides accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking, a shared lounge and a garden. Amazing place, the hosts are very welcoming, the food is excellent, the rooms are spacious and equipped with everything that you need! The location was great just a few feet away from the Devil's Throat cave. Absolutely great experience! Highly recommended.
Located in Trigrad, 1.4 mi from Devil's Throat Cave, Guest House Rossy offers amenities including a garden and barbecue facilities. I don't even know where to start as it's hard to contain my excitement when it comes to Rosy. We felt like staying with our own loving granny in a very comfortable way. Also breakfast was absolutely amazing!! Rosy prepared some traditional bulgarian dishes for us and we also asked wether it was possible to have some homemade traditional dinner and she made some veeeeery yummy dishes for us! Don't forget to ask for her homemade yoghurt and cheese!! (Btw expect granny portions concerning food *haha* she's such a sweetheart!!) Though she doesn't speak english, communication was no problem as we either used our hands and feet to talk to her or had her niece call her who speaks perfect english :) Besides that the room is decorated very thoughtfully and also absolutely clean.
Boasting a garden, terrace and views of city, Guest house Emmy is located in Trigrad, 1.2 mi from Devil's Throat Cave. The guest house has family rooms. Very warm welcome, the lady was very helpful and patient with us, as we arrived really late. The breakfast was amazing.
Offering mountain views, Къща край реката - Триград is an accommodations located in Trigrad, 8.7 mi from Elatias Forrest and 1.6 mi from Devil's Throat Cave. We had a very warm welcome by the host on arrival. Very nice Location and wonderful view on the mountains and the little river nearby. The fireplace kept us warm over night. There is a little fish farm nearby, would recommend.
When visiting Trigrad you must visit couple of places - Wolf's rock - you can hire a jeep for 60 leva (you can combine with other people to split the price) from Gyovren and Chairski Lakes (Чаирски езера) - 12 km walk or you can hire another jeep. If you go to Devin which around 40 km from Trigrad you can visit Mineral Pools at the end of the city. Behind the pools starts a trail which goes to Samodivski Waterfall (Самодивското пръскало).
The village is ideally located within easy walking distance of the Trigrad Gorge and cave. There are plenty of walks in the forest and several hotels to choose from. We stayed at the Trigrad Hotel and Spa which I would recommend- the hotel was comfortable and the food was good. Trigrad is also within easy driving distance of Yagodina Cave and the Eagles Eye.
It is very beautiful place. There are many place to visit and to take homemade products. I will recommend The Devil’s throat. Good place for relaxing and to walk around the nature. They have only three place for eating.
There were lots of great hiking paths in the area however some were too long for a day walk. Lots of other things to do as well though for tourists to the area. Bat caves in fact lots of caves an eagle eye view of mountains the you can walk up to or take a jeep ride etc. Unfortunately things not so easy to get to without own transport
Devils throat cave was great but isn't the same cave that we had seen on pictures. For a 'real' caving experience, harnesses, mud, climbing, abseiling and all, go to the bear museum next to the hotel/restaurant that looks like a castle and book onto a Haramiiska cave trip. By far the highlight of our trip to Bulgaria. Possibly not for complete caving/climbing beginners or the faint hearted. There is quite a difficult climb into the cave, then lots of small gaps to crawl through, and a scary 50m decent. Also quite a long hike out. This isn't a show cave so you'll be the only people there.. We loved it! We also did the via Ferrata but that was very tame for anyone with experience - go straight for the caving!
The drive to Trigrad and the caves are amazing. The villagers are very friendly (if you know Bulgarian). We were disappointed though that horseback riding wasn't available because there was no guide at that time, nor did they know when they would have one. The horses were beautiful and friendly though. Our girls were very disappointed they couldn't ride them. We ate mostly at the Hotel Trigrad and in nearby Borino.
