This is my second time staying in the Annex Crystal, after a visit with my mom before Christmas 2024, and it was just as special. Waking up to those dreamy mountain slopes right outside the window felt almost unreal. The room was cozy, warm, and spotless. Breakfast was simple, yet fresh and satisfying. A truly peaceful and beautiful stay. Btw, happy to meet with little kitty Jimmy again :)

Alpine Resort and Large Glaciers

Grindelwald lies at more than 1000 metres above sea level, offering top-class ski slopes and an imposing Alpine landscape. It is located in the canton of Bern, in the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Aletsch is the largest glacier to be found in the Alps.

Although evidence shows humans have been present in the region for thousands of years, the first long-lasting settlements date back to the Middle Age. For a long period, the destiny of the village was attached to the influence of the Interlaken Abbey, until the times of the Protestant Reformation.

Tourist activity begun in the 18th century, bringing new life and wealth to the village. During the second half of the 19th century, roads and railway lines were developed, allowing a constant influx of visitors. Grindelwald is not over crowded, it is convenient, easy to...

Grindelwald is not over crowded, it is convenient, easy to go to many mountains. Grindelwald is very beautify, the green mountains, the cows, the Glacier, the trains on mountains. Everything I saw was a beautiful picture. Also it is a good place to do paragliding, and it was so much fun.

Incredible place lots of varied and different hikes. With very easy to follow paths. They are labelled as beginner, technical and “specialised) ie needing climbing gear and they are all graded. So if you love that sort of thing it’s for you. There’s also endless mountain Towns to explore nearby. It’s all absolutely stunning .Of course the gondolas are on one of the most expensive sides I’ve ever encountered as are the buses and trains however just take that in to consideration when budgeting for your trips

Number One on top of our best trip list!

Number One on top of our best trip list! Tons to do (hikes, towns to visit close by, Tobagon run, chair lifts to amazing places, such as Jungfrau (top of Europe). Definitely go to "Grindelwald First" located in town to take chair lift to the cliff walk and other optional activities. Great service and lunch with view at Base Camp. Note: activities are expensive so be prepared. Swiss Travel Card for tourists helps with discounts.

We used Grindelwald as a base for 2 days...going to Jungfraujoch Top of Europe one day and then Lauterbrunnen, Murren and Gimmelwald on day 2 before moving onto Zermatt. Had our splurge meal at Bergwelt Grindelwald Hotel and had a fabulous pizza meal at Pizzeria da Salvi. The view was stunning from the pizzeria at Hotel Steinbock

Grindewald is adorable.

Grindewald is adorable. We only stayed 2 nights but could easily have spent more time in this area. If you enjoy outdoor activities, the hiking options are impressive. There are plenty of options for restaurants and shopping too. We especially enjoyed our fondue dinner at one of the local restaurants.

Grindelwald is magical!

Grindelwald is magical! I did a ton of research to decide where to stay in the Jungfrau region and I'm so happy I choose to stay in Grindelwald. It was convenient to everything and the town had a nice balance of shops and restaurants. I can't wait to go back!

The location was excellent; Grindelwald itself is quite busy and sees a lot of foot traffic - either heading to one of the cable car stations or the well used train station - Hotel Bodmi is far enough away to feel quieter and more isolated, but is close enough to have easy access to all the cool things Grindelwald has to offer. Breakfast was delicious - not my usual thing but the family and I LOVED the fluffy pancakes! Number one for this hotel is the staff though - Peter and Saskia were particularly welcoming and helpful during our stay.

We had a family room with double bed and a bunk bed. Bathroom was shared, only a washbasin was in the room. We had a small terrace and view of the Eiger. Beds were comfortable, 2 small chairs and table was also in the room. Shared bathroom was clean and there were enough stalls that we never had to wait. Amazing breakfast with a lot of options, inluding gluten-free bread. Hotel is 5 mins from Grindelwald Terminal train station and small shopping center next to it.

Clearest views of Eiger and Mönch from the backyard. Room was clean and spacious enough. Only disadvantage is that there is no lift. Breakfast spread was good, although I would have preferred to have options for chicken as well. Location is close enough to Grindelwald station. Nearest bus stops take you to Grindelwald Terminal. Grindelwald First is about 10 minutes walking from the hotel.
