Kandersteg – and the fabulous panoramic views on the way there – makes for an unforgettable trip. The cable car ride up to the mountain and the easy walk down to the Oeschinensee was totally worth it. The restaurant near the lake had wonderful views, great food and service. One can even rent a little boat. For those who don't feel they can handle a vigorous walk back to the town or the cable car, a little tram car provides the answer and comes by every 15 minutes. This is a true alpine dream destination in October with the crisp dry weather and gorgeous lighting. I look forward to seeing this charming gem during a snowy winter.
Very helpufl personal willing to solve all the issues, they've provided us storage room for our bikes so highly recommended for bikes as area is just great! Room was exactly as described so it met our expectations. Food was amazing.
It was very quiet and relaxing.Unfortunately I was there during the semi-lockdown so no tourist shops open, no cafés etc. This made it a bit TOO quiet for a single traveller who does not ski :-) I have been there before in a normal year in autumn for walking and it was perfect : beautiful, calm, relaxing with nice restaurants and cafés. Not a place to go if you want après-ski nightlife - but perfect for a relaxing break and fresh air.
The accessibility of the place, even without private transport. The town is walkable and there is a good network of public transportation to nearby destinations. National too! Unfortunately our visit was in pandemic times so we were not savouring the place in full working order. The restaurants, non-essential shops and many facilities were closed. It was still possible to rent sports equipment and book instruction on-line, but you can only eat or use facilities in the hotel you are staying in. Some restaurants and bakeries offer a take-away food and drink service, but if the weather is bad, this isn't really a comfortable option. The weather was also not the best on our full day's stay there.
What an amazing town, in an amazing location. I prefer to go to Adelboden, which is in the other valley, but accomodation wise Kandersteg is a much better place to stay. Much better variety of hotels. I'm sure people go there to skii, but going during any other seasons means amazingly beautiful hikes!!
Kandersteg is a typical Swiss town. Lots of cute hotels and restaurants. Great for winter skiing and lots of hiking trails in the summer. A little off the beaten path but accessible from Interlaken via public transport.
This was my first time at this hotel in Kandersteg. Lovely owners who greet you personally. Thank you both! I was met at the station even though the hotel is a five minute walk. I was also surprised to be upgraded to a double which I also appreciated. Overall a very homely and spotlessly clean hotel. The breakfast was typically Swiss and copious. I took half board and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the four course evening meal. I will definitely return.

We traveled from Germany by train and had to change our staying plans two times due to the delays of the long-distance routes, the hotel owner was supportive to flex our check-in day and time (as long as there is an alternative available), and staffs are very friendly. Our room was small but comfortable with a beautiful mountain view. Breakfast was good, we also had delicious pizza for dinner in the downstair Pizzeria restaurant.
Kandersteg
The chalet is very cozy, located in a calm and beautiful neighborhood surrounded by meadows and a small stream and at a short driving distance from the cable cars. The rooms were very comfortable, the kitchen fully equipped and the living room with a view of mountains and waterfall. The owner was very kind and always available to give some hints about nice attractions in the nearby area.
Everything was PERFECT here. The staff are amazing, rooms are comfortable, clean and have an amazing view. The breakfast was so good and most of all… the SPA! Two saunas , a steam room, pool and relax room. The bath also looks out to the view !The hotel is so close to the train station and only 1 hr walk to Oeschinensee ! Absolute gem. We will be back! 🇨🇦Chelan + Vicki
The staff was absolutely fantastic! A warm welcome, extremely friendly and thoughtful service. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was outstanding - don't rely on what you see on the printed menu. The kitchen had additionally vegan and vegetarian options which were fresh and superbly tasty!

The location of the appartment is perfect, the views from any window were great. Around the area you have two supermarkets, restaurants, bank/ATM,... you have everything. They also have a children room to play if raining in the hotel. We will come back, we highly recommend it.
Good price for the money, good location. Easy checkin and checkout. Dont expect the five stars hotel when you pay for a 3 stars but its good enough to sleep, clean and good breakfast. Would def come back for more Kandersteg hiking !
Friendly staff gave us recommendations of where to visit. Free parking on site was nice. Great location in center of town, convenience stores, gondola to Oeschinen and train station were nearby, accessible with short walk.
Good location in the center of Kandersteg. Great view from my room. I was allowed to check in already very early in the morning; this was very helpful. Friendly staff, good breakfast.
For the price, I felt this hotel was very good indeed. It is very grand and opulent and I thought the service was good with a lovely breakfast.

Kandersteg
I was very impressed by the hotel itself. It’s over 350 years old and they have kept the old fashioned Bernese style. It’s filled with antiques and the staff dress in traditional costume. People could speak both German and English, as foreigners, we felt completely welcome. Also, last minute we lost our babysitter and had to bring our daughter with us. They brought a comfy bed and had it ready while we ate dinner. The food is exceptional and them have a wide menu to enjoy dinner. Try the mushroom fondue, it was great! Breakfast was very prettily served and delicious.
