Blessed with a job that lets me travel the world, I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels—from the South Pacific to Greenland—and I’ve never experienced attention to detail like this. Every corner is decorated with handmade and antique crafts, and the famous model train delivering schnapps to your table is pure magic. At breakfast, I was greeted by a mini chalkboard with my name and company written on it—a small gesture, but one that speaks volumes about their commitment to making every guest feel personally welcomed. I spent two days exploring the place, touching everything, and I couldn’t find a single speck of dust. The same level of care goes into the food: fresh ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and service always delivered with a smile. I’ve already visited twice, and I can’t wait to return. P.S. They’re also biker‑friendly! 😎

Nice skiing region!

Nice skiing region! The small town itself is also pretty and worth to visit. You can have a nice cheap breakfast downstairs in the corner. I highly recommend to avoid rupturing your ligaments during skiing!🤣

We liked that everything was in walking distance.

We liked that everything was in walking distance. Plenty of restaurants, bakeries, ice cream / coffee shops, small town shopping facilities, museums, traditional crafts, twice a week farmers markets, theatre, street music, the famous Kate carnival was on whilst we were there. The town is lovely restored and has a lot of small town charm. You would have to plan your trip very well if you relay on public transport to explore the hinterland. It is doable but not too easy to get around the area without a car. A lot of things to do at the doorstep of Annaberg. Hiking, museums, Dresden or Prag would be a 2 hrs drive; you find certainly something to do for everyone of every age.

The quaintness, the genuine friendliness of the people + everyone was so helpful despite a language barrier. It was so relaxed everywhere, be the market square, cafes, retail stores, etc. We probably had at least a dozen instances of people extending a courtesy or assistance to us with something over our seven day stay. The only downside was the awful construction going on at the train station and the only alternative to exiting and accessing the town is climbing a horribly steep gravel path + we arrived at dark and couldn’t even see the path because there was no lighting. However, a very kind German gentleman assisted us and half/way up the hill went and got his personal car and took us to the hotel.

Fantastic historic hotel in the centre of Annaberg-Bucholz. Some beautifully maintained historic features inside and outside which create a sense of walking through history. These features are nevertheless part of a hotel with all modern comforts.

Received a quiet room as requested. Heating was on in the bathroom and the holiday lights were on timer, thoughtful touches. Location of hotel and room size were nice. Would stay again.
