Conveniently located at the base of the Großer Arber Ski Area, Pension Arberwald offers a terrace, garden and a sauna. BBQ facilities are available and free WiFi is offered in some areas. This pension has the most friendly and helpful staff of all the hotels I've been in past few years. It is in excellent location for winter sports, but great start for summer hikes as well. There were no problems with anything whatsoever. Very good breakfast and good food in restaurant overall. Very pet friendly. Much recommended.

Quiet German town surrounded by beautiful nature on the border. Diverse entertainment options in and around the town - not just for nature lovers. Possibility to use attractions on the Czech side, which can be reached by cross-border bus or train. If you have accommodation here, you will get a NationaPark-Card, thanks to which local transport is free. Recommended: Local Bahnhof museum, MiniGolf, Grenzbahnhof, nearby highest peak Gross Arber with gondola lift and surrounding lakes (small and large) where you can eat well. There is a forest games park near Spiegelau - forest fun for the whole family. We were shopping in the nearby town of Zwiesel, where there are also many good restaurants.
great value property at the heart of bavarian forest in a quaint small village with great tourist infomration office, small village shop (closed on Sundays) and a great play park for the children. Pizzeria was lovely - but you MUST book in advance.
A great spot for anyone who loves snow, Ski with small houses view. The village is very romantic, people mostly are smiling and helpful, and Scenery sights everywhere. In addition to that it's the prefect spot for ski for beginners, families, as well as for advanced skier. I saw hundreds of people of different genders and ages skiing everyday on the Arber mountain, it was wonderful.
This is a very small place right on the Czech border. There are a few things to visit - a local railway museum, an exhibition centre for the Bavarian National Park, and some nice regional shops and even a gallery. The church is large and neo-Baroque, with friendly people. We went to Eisensteiner Hof restaurant, which is excellent, and got some great cakes from the Cafe Arber, down next to the pharmacy store. There is a small village shop that has enough for daily needs, bigger supermarkets are in Zwiesel and Bodenmais, both fairly short drives. The walks around are great, though not always that well signposted. Tourist information offers plenty of suggestions. This is not a place if you want a night life, but it is if you want a day life and a restful evening. It's well looked after, small, and easily accessible, and we are very glad that we went.

Bayerisch Eisenstein
The room is comfortable and spacial, the location is pretty good, near the bus station. The host is super friendly! In the first evening she even prepared a free meal for me because I didn't bring food and all of the restaurant was closed. And the next day they drove me to the ski resort because there is no bus. It was an amazing experience staying with them, more than just a guesthouse
Absolutely lovely staff. They couldn't be more helpful and kind. Everything about this hotel + restaurant is sweet and charming. My room (and I think every room) had a nice balcony to relax and admire the view. They serve Pilsner Urquell!! (world's best beer).
