About Coburg

Coburg, Germany, is a charming city nestled in the heart of Bavaria. Known for its temperate climate, Coburg experiences mild summers with temperatures averaging around 70°F and winters that hover just above freezing.

The city is a treasure trove of historical landmarks, including the impressive Veste Coburg, a fortress offering panoramic views. Coburg's well-connected public transportation system makes exploring easy, but walking or driving offers a more intimate experience of this picturesque city.

Coburg's culture is deeply rooted in its Bavarian heritage, reflected in its local cuisine. A must-try is the traditional Bratwurst, a type of German sausage, often enjoyed with a side of Sauerkraut, fermented cabbage. The city is also surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, perfect for nature lovers.

We went there for the Samba festival weekend, it was really amazing and worth checking if you are into this type of thing. Mixed ages, everyone was dancing on the streets, great street food, excellent performances and great small or big Samba bands from all over Europe! The after-party at the Congress Hall was great and indoors!

I've traveled through Germany for about 50 years, coming almost every year, mainly for work. I am not sure I had ever heard of Coburg. I picked it because my plans changed at the last minute and I had to find some place on the way from Frankfurt to the Hartz region. It turned out to be a lucky choice.

    Historically very interesting.

Historically very interesting. Could visit Prince Albert's residences easily. Could walk around to all town locations easily. Place has a charm, Huge disadvantage and minus point is that everything shuts down in the evening too early. Almost impossible to sit outside and/or order food after 9 in the evening. Coburg turns into a bit of a ghost town after dark! Shame.

The castle is amazing, for a small city it has an amazing collection and the grounds are lovely. Enjoyed the Market Platz and the surrounding streets. Would have liked an additional day to view some of the other museums.

I love Coburg, a quaint walled town rich in history. The town square is a great place to have coffee and watch the world go by. I visit primarily for the doll festival which is held annually in nearby Neustadt. Doll museum in Coburg is always worth a visit.

We stay every year in May for the Puppenfest.

We stay every year in May for the Puppenfest. Love the antique shop and individual shops. Excellent restaurant in the corner of the main square. Also WONDERFUL chocolate shop with choc bars of Victoria and Albert. Could stay much longer but the Puppenfest in other towns beckon. Don't miss the new Glass Museum just outside of the town.

Good location. Quaint. I usually stay here when in Coburg. Was pleasant to have mulled wine and Christmas bittings all round during Christmas and to warm up be use of the cold weather. As well as other snacks and coffee, though I am a tea drinker. Their was an effort from management to be at home.

I visited many hotels in Germany, I can say with confidence that the approach to these apartments is at a high level. Everything is organized, the manager is fluent in English. The apartment is cozy and warm, beautiful view of the castle and mountains. Highly recommend

Beautiful spaces outside the room - dining room is spectacular! Easy/super close walk to everywhere - beautiful run right through the central town area right outside your door! The location and service to distract our family, who stayed there for a funeral.

The hotel is charming and we were given room #105, a suite with a sunroom. So nice! The bathroom was large as well. Breakfast was good and the receptionist was very helpful. Parking was in an outside lot next to the building.
