RomaniaFriendly people to reception and restaurant. Breakfast was having a variety of food and drinks. I requested a quite room being close to train station and indeed I slept very well.
I didn.t tried sauna or swimming pool but anyway I,ve got a nice experience willing to repeat it. They allow me to park the car just in front of the Hotel ("parking for short term"). This is another reason for thanking them. I stayed only one night but I would come back again anytime soon.

We picked Essen as a convenient and affordable place to stay in Germany as we were coming from UK. With Essen as a main station we went to Oberhausen and Cologne. Essen itself has a lot of attractions. We liked the UNESCO Zollverien site a lot.

I travelled to Esssen to attend talks, a concert and an opera performance at the Aalto Musiktheater Essen and that was all excellent. I didn't see much more of the city, apart from a quick Sunday walk in the city centre, visiting the Essener Dom and the restored Synagogue.

Great exhibition halls at Messe Essen, for annual classic car show. Shopping is good with large shopping centre in town. Lots of restuarants and eating places. Dusseldorf within travelling distance and airport easily reached.

We visited the Zollverein UNECSO.
We visited the Zollverein UNECSO. You could easily spend a full day discovery everything. The city is wonderful. Very green. Food portions are big. Great value for money. The Villa Hügel was very interesting. Unfortunately too little to view without a tour which only occurs on certain days / weekends.

Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex
Red Dot Design Museum
And I give a Minus for the unkempt appearance and the mess in some public areas.

The Folkwang Museum, one of the major museums in North-Rhine...
The Folkwang Museum, one of the major museums in North-Rhine-Westphalia, is already worth a trip to Essen and will occupy you for half a day. Besides current exhibitions it has 24 large rooms with a permanent exhibition on modern art that can be accessed free of charge. Also worth visiting is the Zeche-Zollverein industrial museum and the Alte Synagogue museum and commemoration centre, only 10 minutes away from the main station. Essen also has many restaurants and is one of the main shopping destinations in the region. In winter, there is a large Christmas market and in January/February the Wintertraum Essen, a large open air ice rink with food outlets.

We had a good stay at the Ramada by Wyndham Essen. The hotel was very nice and everything was perfectly clean. The only minor downsides for us were that the doors don't have child safety locks, which would be incredibly useful when you book a suite with family, and the beds weren't quite comfortable enough for me personally. Other than that, it is absolutely a top-notch hotel and we had a wonderful time.

12 min walk from Essen Hauptbahnhof, very easy to find. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff and a nice choice of food at breakfast. Hotel was very quiet (inside as well as outside). We were on the third floor and didn’t hear a thing from outside, such as traffic noise or people.
Easy walking distance to main shopping area (5-6 mins), plenty of eateries and bars nearby.

The breakfast is OK. They have a lot of vegan options. The location is directly next to the Christmas Market in Essen. The parking is next to the hotel and costs 18e per 24h. Rooms are well maintained. To find the parking you have to look for Centralgarage Kennedyplatz and enter the underground tunnel on the road.

Room was clean and tidy with all the cosmetic. Many towels, comfy beds, access to the garage where I hide my car ( it cost €10 but I think it’s worth to pay considering the hotel is located in the centre of Essen), There’s a lift as well
