Our main purpose was to attend the Denmark Open Badminton tournament at an arena out of town and made only one visit to the city centre. Easy access using public transport. Big pedestrian shopping area and good choice of restaurants and the one we tried (UBN) was very good.
Don't go on Monday, most of the place is closed. H.C. Anderson Museum is a must visit. It is not ordinary museum, if you, like to read and self reflect, have sense of art, you will enjoy the place. As I really enjoyed.
I feel there is very little to see in Odense. There is an H.C. Andersen house which we did not go into, as it did really not seem worth it. Then some statues in the parks. We went to the Odin village, and ended up being dissuaded by the receptionist to not go in, as there was no activity at all there that day, as the Danish school holidays were already over. The highlight of the trip was the railway museum, which we really enjoyed.
Odense is one of the best places in Denmark! The old town is lovely and beautiful, the brand new Andersen museum is fabulous - mainly for adults! It shows Andersen's tragical life with fame and many sadness, and not only the tales but all the other parts of his huge works. If you buy a 24 or 72 hours bus ticket for tourists, you can use not only the local trams and buses but also the bus lines of the countryside. So let's go first to Kerteminde where you can find an Aquarium where you can play with seastars and cute crabs and see many creatures of the north seas. After it you can go by a cheap local Summer-bus to the Viking museum where the kids can play like the viking-children :) and before you go back to Odense, swim in the sea - there is a free beach too! We stayed only 3 days in Odense but is wasn't enough. Next time we'll stay here minimum a week or more! :)
the HC Andersen experience was amazing I loved visiting his birth house and seeing how he lived as a child. Well thought out and brilliant display of all his work and personal belongings. plenty of restaurants to choose from to meet all tastes city was busy as it was a Saturday night we visited river cruise is very relaxing and scenery is spectacular along with the houses and buildings
A beautiful city that has charming architecture good quality shops & lovely restaurants. It is a very clean city which h is also very safe. The flower festival is worth seeing but there are lots of other things to do.
Lovely location and a short walk into the city. We had breakfast and it was excellent with a good variety of breakfast items. We really enjoyed our stay at Villa A and in the city of Odense. Instructions to access the property (reception was not 24 hours) were clear and communication was always responded to promptly. While there was no kettle in the room to make a cup of tea or coffee after a day out, Villa A did have hot water available for tea and coffee in the lounge area which guests could help themselves to.
First Grand Hotel harks back to some grander times: a hotel for rich people with its plush seating area, large suites, chandeliers and art deco bathrooms. The rooms are more or less affordable but still a bit pricey although breakfast is included. We got a unexpected early check-in and received a large room towards the back of the hotel. Small bathroom but a huge sofa in the living area. The hotel is centrally located, then again Odense isn’t that big. For a good meal head to the Storms Pakhus, a charming foodcourt.
We had a wonderful experience at Hotel Odeon. The staff was very warm and friendly and gave us great advice when needed. The front desk was very helpful with our many questions and a few requests and the bartender gave us great insight into the history of the area. He was absolutely charming! We found this hotel and town a fantastic stop on our trip. The restaurant was delicious as well with, at least to us, unique and delicious food.
Odense
Very kind, funny and friendly owners, all the rooms were clean (living, kitchen, bathroom), there is a lot of space, beautiful yard and a flowers on the tables outdoor. If you appreciate art, you'll love the paintings and the atmosphere. Netto and Facta stores are in a few minutes of walk. Bus stops are also located nearby. B&B is not so far from the city center, you can go by feet. Worth staying.
Odense
Super location downtown Odense. Close to all the things you want to see. Breakfast was very tasty, they make the small effort of doing things just a bit better than other places which makes it great, eg. good sausages, tasty cereals. The reception was super nice, warm, heartfelt welcome. We had a great time and would visit City Hotel Apartments/Nattergalen again.
Staff were very nice and friendly. They gave us advice about local sites and museums and were helpful with maps. Breakfast was very nice and a good start to the day. But tended to get crowded after 9 in the hotel we stayed at, but we were advised about this and had no problems. Odense is a lovely town and we had a very nice stay.
The breakfast was great. The hotel was on a very central location. Very friendly staff and easy to park the car at the parking of the hotel. Would definitely recommend the hotel for a short stay in Odense.
this hotel is situated approximately 5 km from the center of the city. The rooms were comfortable. We had a nice breakfast, various choices (fruits, vegetables, egg,...).
Decently priced hotel with free, secured car park. Within walking distance of the city centre. Good breakfast buffet included in the price of the room.
Hotel is next to the H. C. Andersen Museum and the old town. Clean, modern room. Delicious Danish-style breakfast.
Fun old hotel, really quirky with an excellent breakfast, large rooms, and centrally located.
