Located in a lovely location in the port town of Comillas, in a bay directly overlooking the sea, Hotel Mar features air-conditioned rooms. Some rooms have sea views. Location was perfect. Not in the middle of the noise, but yet within walking distance of the old city. The staff was very helpful especially at the restaurant. The room was clean and we had a seaview, so it wa very nice. Not too many hotels in this price range had air conditioning, which this one had. The breakfast buffet was incredible with many choices from meats, cheeses, pastries, eggs, coffee, juices, fruits. The decor of the hotel is very modern and odd but so many other great things that the decor was overlooked. I highly recommend this hotel.

Plenty of choice for restaurants, and nice sea front plus historical sites. Nearby is the Bodegas Miradorio which is worth a visit as it's a different presentation to many of the other vineyards we visited, as are the wines.
It was a lovely Spanish resort with plenty to see and do and a great selection of restaurants and places to eat. As we went in September the weather was good and the town wasn't too crowded! Nearby some lovely drives and the scenery in this part of Northern Spain is fabulous! Can't wait to go again.
This is not a very well known seaside place in England. It should be. It has huge sands and in summer the beach is monitored. There is a wonderful small old harbour. In the distance are the mountains. There is a reliable, but rather infrequent local bus service, calling at the town. It goes from Santander to San Vicente De Barques. I stops at Santilla Del Mare, which is a lovely little town. A 35 minutes' walk takes you to the cave painting museum. Over the ridge of the hill at Comillas is the actual town itself. This is a wow. It has a tiny historic quarter with lovely old buildings. The highlight has to be the Modernista buildings especially The Caprice by Gaudi. There are also a variety of shops, bars and restaurants here.
It is a lovely village/town with plenty of historical attractions. One of which is a house that a young Guadi designed, well worth a visit. Comillas is also surrounded by mountains and valleys, superb driving and viewing area.
I'm not sure I want to tell everyone about this wonderful little town with interesting sights around every corner and two Gaudi creations because one of its most charming attributes is its unspoiltness but hoping that it will stay its charming self and continue to offer the chance to visit Casa El Capricho I will say that it was a major highlight of a splendid visit to Spain.
A lovely place to visit- beaches, harbour, historic buildings, lots of small shops, market on Friday. We found it difficult to eat out, especially in the evening when the restaurants only appeared to be serving for about 1.5 hours (possibly because it was the end of the season).
Comillas
The place is practically in the countryside (great for walks) but within easy walking distance of Comillas. Comillas itself is a great little town with a splendid beach and many cultural attractions. The house itself is fully equipped and could sleep up to 8 people although we were just 2 and enjoyed the quiet and the peace of mind of not mingling with lots of people at this uncertain moment (Covid!). When we accidentally left behind a few pieces of clothing the owner sent them to us within 24 hours!!
Comillas
The day of the check-in Marta, the owner, contacted us via telephone to ensure that our arrival and stay was as smooth as possible. We booked 2 rooms with private bathrooms, which were incredibly neat and proper. Location is excellent, both for parking and to visit Comillas by foot. We didn't realize it until we arrived, but our rooms included cleaning service even if we only stayed 2 nights, which was a wonderful treat! If we get the chance, we will definetely be back!
We absolutely loved the apartment! It was newly refurbished and beautifully done! The beds were super comfortable. The view of the ocean from all the windows was wonderful. The host was very friendly and accommodating. The porch was lovely for a glass of wine in the evening. We were right across from two great seafood restaurants! We could not have picked a better location in Comillas!
Comillas
The albergue is unique in my experience, as it features train-like accommodations, with bunks having curtains. The price for the individual bunk is steep, about twice what is normal, but the facilities are quite good. Comillas at that time was experiencing a shortage of accommodation, so we elected to go with the albergue.
Comillas
The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. Each night the owner cooked a vegetarian meal for me. The hotel is in a good position- away from the noise of the town but close enough to access the town's facilities.
The staff were friendly and they were at good spirits despite the ongoing Covid-19 situation. Their recommendations for restaurants were really good and also for what to see and do in Comillas.
Our favorite hotel this far on our camino trip. The view from our room made us not want to leave so we had a picnic on our wrap around balcony
The hotel has a very good location as it’s outside town but easy access to town. Was very clean. We had a great massage! The guy is amazing
